    speakers in barn doors?

What are you hoping to accomplish with speakers in this location? For a full range speaker, they are too far back and too far below the back seats to be of much use for the front seats. As a subwoofer locations, the airspaces are too small and not adequately sealed enough to provide a good...

    Radio power issues?

Are there any known issues with the radio power (switched and/or constant) circuit in the OBS Tahoe/Yukons? I have had several Kenwood head units that go into protection mode in this Tahoe. Usually this indicates a short in the speakers, but they will do it with no speakers attached, just the...

    How to increase towing capacity

Yeah, that's pretty much what I figured. Just needed a reality check to be sure. Thanks, guys.

    How to increase towing capacity

Right now my towing capacity appears to be somewhere around 6500 to 7000 lbs (depending on which website you use). I've been looking at boats and the size I'm looking at are closer to the 10,000 lbs range on the trailer. Is the a way to increase the towing capacity of a 99 Tahoe. Signature...

    Charging system gut check

I really am more mechanically inclined than I like to let on sometimes. Turns out that someone had replaced whatever was originally in there with an aftermarket 105A sometime before 2009. And as you eluded to, the parts house had a reman'd 105A house brand, so I went with it, mostly for an...

    Charging system gut check

Nice! Not for this one though. It's in nice shape, but it is pretty much a tow/winter vehicle. I'm looking for stock drop in equipment. Looks like a lot of AC lines around it. You wouldn't happen to have a link to a alternator R/R tutorial, would you? I need to make this a quick change or...

Thanks, I thought so. Any suggestions on brands, amperage and reman vs new?

    Charging system gut check

Just started today: battery light is lit steadily and the voltage meter has dropped from 14V to 10V, also holding steadily. I'm thinking it's the alternator. I'll get a code reader on it soon, but have no problem just switching out the alternator if that's what it most likely is

    ESKY/Denali console sub question

I'll preface this by telling you that I know nothing specifically about the console sub, but I do know a few things about audio. Presuming your information is correct about the impedance, you need an amp than is capable of driving a one ohm load. Most amp can drive a load higher than they are...

    windshield wipers won't shut off???

Check this out: http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45445 This may or may not be the problem with your wipers, but it cost almost nothing (soldering iron and 1/2 hour of time) to try before moving on to more expensive efforts. I put this off for almost two years and finally...

    Wiper travel

Is there a write up on how to adjust the actual travel of the wipers? My drivers side wiper sits up higher than the passenger side and goes past the edge of the windshield when in use, which seems to be reducing the usable life of that wiper. Couldn't find anything in a search on the section...

HOW TO: Fix strange wiper behavior (PICS)

I've known about this fix for as long as I've owned my Tahoe and always seemed to forget about it when I didn't need my wipers and didn't really want to get into fixing them in the rain when I was reminded that I needed to do it. Well today, for some reason, the planets aligned and I was...

    4 10" pioneers in 98 2door

The way I read it, you can't run that amp bridged at 2 ohms. You're going to need to wire them into two 2 ohm loads and run the amp in stereo to get 600x2 out of it or one 4 ohm load to bridge it getting 1200x1. Running 2 ohms into it bridged will at best shut it down or blow some fuses or at...

    HID Lighting Issues

It had a factory deck when I got it. I only use the eight speakers wires, three power wires and one amp wire. Dimming feature and other wires are capped off and are not used. I use a factory to Kenwood wiring harness and have verified the wiring. I believe it's when the headlights turn on...

    turn signal help

It's gonna sound dumb, but did you check the bulbs and the sockets? A while back I had to replace the circuit board behind the lens on my tail lights. I'd start back there and work forward. Get a good VM and check for voltage in the wiring and circuit completion in each bulb.

    HID Lighting Issues

And to add further to this- I did get a replacement Blue Tooth deck for it, the same model actually and guess what? It will go into protect just like the other one, although not as easily... Yet. I suspect that, like the old one, I'll get a few years out of it before its symptoms finally get...

    1999 Tahoe auto 4wd

i did a thread search but didn't come up with anything definitive. Knowing when to use 2WD is easy enough and 4WD is almost as easy, but when and how should Auto 4WD be used? I drive about two hours a day on the free back and forth to work and then mostly arterial streets before and after...

    HID Lighting Issues

Unfortunately, no. I added the relay harness and it did not fix the problem. Actually the problem just got worse on the road trip I just got back from. As I was arriving at my destination, it went into protect mode for no apparent reason and despite pushing the reset button many times it...

    Sub box ideas

I've got two JBL DVC tens down-firing in a sealed box and I think they sound great. They get as loud and as low as need most of the time. Freeway with the windows down is pushing if a little. I've got other boxes to choose from for more bass or more room.

    Recommend a head unit

Just a quick safety PSA: Not to bag on getonerd's install, but always be sure to use actual plastic grommets (silicone is not the same thing) anywhere you penetrate sheet metal and regardless of any other fuses in your system always place a system fuse within 18" of your battery connection...

    Recommend a head unit

Use the amp turn on wire, not the power antenna wire, unless you only want that factory amp on when you're listening to radio. As far as a recommendation goes, what are you looking for in a head unit? They are all over the map as far as features go and sticking with the big boys (Kenwood...

    96 Tahoe back speakers

If you have two 4 ohm speakers you can put them together by connecting them in series, giving you and eight ohm load, or parallel, giving you a two ohm load. Unless your deck is rated to handle a two ohm load per channel, you will want to series them resulting in an eight ohm load. Here is a...

96 tahoe horn lock not working

Thanks for the info! So is this more of a keyless entry and less of a security system? The range on mine is pretty dismal as well, but if it's just to unlock the doors, you wouldn't need much range I guess.
