quick update, found the stock amp and needed to bypass it. the part number for what i used was METRA 70-2021. as stated mines a 2001 model and the factory amp is behind the glovebox.
Whats up man as far as what needed to do it id google more info and search around. In my search to figuring out why my stereo goes mute randomly i came across this site that makes parts needed to add aux or keep stock radio and use extras on it. Hope this helps out a bit...
it had an aftermarket radio. and i put in a radio i bought at autozone. works well but speakers will randomly shut off, so asking around i was told i need an interface module due to having onstar.
Hey guys how are ya, so my radio or speakers randomly die out. Thinking it was the radio i got a new one and installed it. Well to my surprise the new one did the same it looks like it has the onstar feature is there something that isn't wired right, or maybe i need to hook something else up...

No, all that actually is good, it's a weird cutout as if the speakers go mute. Does the onstar make it a problem. I was reading on another thread that maybe the onstar could be the problem. I have noticed if I have my lights on at night when I hit the switches to roll up th windows it looks like...
hey whats up guys, so my 2001 Tahoe has an aftermarket radio. Sounds good and all when it plays audio, there are times the audio cuts off and doesn't return until a while or I do the equivalent of the rain dance to get em to work. I see the radio has the harness so you don't cut into the stock...
Mines a 01 and I've noticed not many have the flares. I like that about mine really sets it out from the rest of them. Where I live I see another 4 of these tahoes and sadly they don't have the flares and it makes em look different
