If you're lucky maybe you can find something from the south that was totaled and ended up in Harry's. I've found that the truck, 2&4 dr Yukon, & Suburban lines are interchangeable except for the center section on the LH frame rail. Rear axle lines are identical for all models as is the piece...
I replaced all the brake lines in my '98 K1500 Suburban last fall as the lines were shot:
The truck came from up north and I was going to buy the kit or a few rolls of line. Then I realized that cars in SC aren't really exposed to road salt so I hit the pull-a-part and scavenged lines off 2...
The OE case half is fine, provided you use the upgraded rear pump half (Merchant Automotive has the nicest one I found). The main issue is that the OE design Al rear pump half has a narrow contact area (knife edge) that will eat through the Mg as it is softer than the Al.
I believe...
NP246, NV246, and NVG246 are all the same case, the name relates to the time frame of the case and/or the person referring to the case. New Process gear became New Venture gear, ultimately becoming a division of Magna Powertrain and making New Venture Gear transfer cases at a plant on New...
I just finished rebuilding the 246 (4 button with auto 4WD) in my Suburban and I wouldn't call the transfer case rebuild tricky. It is time consuming and you have to be meticulous and methodical but it's doable. You'll need the J-44295 Kent-Moore clutch pack setup tool (I now own one) but a...
I would have never equated a leaky intake manifold gasket with that noise. In my case, however, I'm pretty sure that isn't the cause. My LIMG sprouted an external leak near cyl #2 in April 2012 and I replaced them with the Fel-Pro problem solver gaskets. The engine wasn't contaminated...
I've been trying to track down a quiet, low frequency rattle on my '98 L31 K1500 Suburban but haven't been able to pin it down. It happens at 2 speeds: idle and 1500-1800RPM with light throttle. It only occurs about 50% of the time at idle (1 of 2 stops at a red light). At speed under light...
NVG 241 (3 button) or 246 (4 button with Auto 4WD)? On the 246 you can pull the encoder motor and try rotating the control lever actuator with a 14MM wrench. There are 3 detents on the lever and a spring loaded plunger in the case. If it won't shift manually your problem is inside.
I just finished rebuilding the NVG 246 AutoTrac transfer case in my '98 Suburban (RPO NP8). It sounds like you tried to put in the NVG 241 transfer case which, as you discovered, is vastly different.
I don't think you can (easily) splice in toggle switches to control the positions of the...
