Thanks all just got back into the states going to get my hands dirty today and check a few things. Of course when they got to the airport wife and daughter stated that had not happened since the video. Ha always happens
Hi everyone,
2012 Yukon Denali XL
152,000 and some change
I have been in the UK for the last 5 weeks for work, and my wife called saying the truck was trying not to start. She would turn the key on nothing and then try again, and it would start. After she was driving, no issues, but once in a...
Hey, so a couple of things for you do and or consider depending on your skill level.
I have a 2012 Denali XL and had very similar problems when I got mine towing my trailer. I would do these things some of which you can do yourself.
Get the shop to do a new Tranny filter. This doesn't change...
Use some 0000 steelwool. Use it lightly but I use it a lot in my 2012. I live on the coast in NC and the Salt air is a killer. I have been using quad 4 on any chrome for the last 20 yrs. Sometimes I use a little chrome cleaner with the quad4
I have done this myself after I replaced the shocks in the rear. I want back in to check the upper shock bolt and knocked the plug. Felt sure I had not but low and behold I had.... plugged back in and all the messages when away
That was going to be my next addition if this did not as well as it has. I may do this still. I read it is a pain to get that pan off !! I would love a drain plug!
I was as well. But in my mind, I think that with the lines running through the radiator the cooler has to work doubly hard to get the temp down once it hit a certain point. Thus the bigger better cooler helps with all of this effort. What got me the most is that when I run off the highway into...
I had
KNP - TRANSMISSION COOLING SYSTEM
Not sure if this code is HD or not. What I can say is the stock one was very small and of a tube and fin type cooler which are not very efficient.
The TruCool is a Stacked plate design that is the most efficient so I'm not sure how to really compare...
I found that everything actually works better AC included. During the noted heatwave, I had to keep the AC off just to keep water temp where I wanted it. Once this was on I can keep AC rolling fine and cold and temps stay fine. As noted by @avalonandl lots of air movement at speed but even in...
As an owner of one of these types of cars, this is actually a problem especially if you are like me and work on them yourself vs dealer for everything. My good friend who has a Porsche tuning business is a master mechanic/restorer is having the same problem. You will have things stamped from...
Yeah, man. At first, I thought it would be to damn big. But managed to get it in there. I had to work that bottom right connector a little to make it to my liking but it is making all the difference. Feel like it was the final piece to my towing puzzle but I'm a methodical guy on changing things...
I will add that I have a 28ft TT weighs in right around 6,000 lbs. No trouble towing and do it a lot up and down the East Coast. (2012 Denali XL) What I did not like were the high engine and trans temps. I replaced my Back Shocks (Arnott shocks) and Brakes, new rotors, and pads. Flushed the...
It is most likely a bad ride height sensor. Are you getting DIC messages at all? When you start up the car does the compressor just kick on and stay on? In the meantime, you could let some air out of the shocks and disconnect the compressor so it does not burn out. That could be done by removing...
Thought I would throw my 2c in. Look to non gas and use propane, easier to store and travel with. I live on OBX NC my house has a 16k with two 150 lb propane tanks. I also use on event sites 3 different types of portables from 2000i Yamaha up to 12000 and all run on propane.
You won't have...
I did the same using most parts that came with the Trucool pack ... I did get transmission line adapters that screwed into the trucool. I cut the original lines with a small tube cutter and then extended them with rubber lines
Here is a pic before clean up

Do you have a stock Cooler? If so just directly replace that. If not the process is a little more entailed but mine, which replaced the little stock one, does go through the radiator and I kept it that way.
Hi,
I just posted this over in https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/towing-and-temperature-issues.112752/page-3#post-1359846
I'll post below for ease of reading but do as @swathdiver suggest do your fluids and then get that TruCool installed and you will be fine....

Just thought I would post my experiences out there based on my towing.
2012 Denali XL. I got the truck with around 80k on it I think and now have around 135k. I have posted about the temp and towing in several threads but here is a recap of what I have done over time. I like to do one thing at...
Here is what should happen
"The system also performs a self test on each ignition ON cycle in which the ESCM commands the ELC relay ON, activating the compressor for 4 seconds then monitors the position sensor’s signal voltage inputs to verify the compressor is functioning and the system is...
