I have mine up above next to the center control unit. I think that's the best place IMPO. It will help with the wind noise if the window is open. Works great for me, I love it.

From the research and homework I have done the aftermarket hoods fit like crap. Gaps don't line up. If your lookin to save money try a junk yard. Might take a little while but you will save money. I found one at a junk yard but didn't have the funds at the time.
I've got 5% on top of stock everything behind the driver. Dark as hell but I like it. Going to put 35% or 25% on the driver and passenger side windows and I want to do a 5% strip on the top of the windshield.
