Here is what I have observed after a year of driving:
1.Drives great first 5 to 8 minutes until reached operating temperature with no vibrations.
2. Someone installed new u joints before I purchased it, don't know how new, I bought it from a ford dealership.
3. Changed rear diff fluid (Mobil...
Ok, but the heat shield vibrating I'm thinking is because of something making it vibrate, like u joints, slip yoke, unbalanced driveshaft, pinion angle, driveline phasing, and tires, wheel bearings, out out of alignment ring and pinion,
Wow, you are very observant. Yes the heat shield does make a fluttering sound, usually on the highway making sweeping curve to the left...I have not greased my slip yoke, I can and will do so if it won't get grease in the transfer case like some people say.
But if you watched the 2nd video, it's the same sound the slip yoke makes in the second video...kind of a knocking sound....i notice your Yukon is lowered, I want to lower my Tahoe too and im thinking it will line up the rear diff better. When you lowered yours, no extra work for your pinion...
Here is a video I took today. 1 year driving it like this. Ready to get it fixed. The video is dim, but you'll be able to hear the clunk metal knocking sound...I'm thinking the slip yoke is making that sound...it happens 3rd gear on up at a constant speed like 35 on up. Some days it doesn't...
I have had this sensation too, high gear low speed, then shudder/rumble strip vibration. It points to the torque converter...i just put in Dr. Tranny shudder fix and it went away. My suggestion is to get the transmission fluid changed, and most likely the shudder will go away...i went the cheap...
My drain plug or should i say fill plug didn't look that bad. It had metal but I'd say 20 percent if that. Anyway, drove today and I'm satisfied, tahoe Is driving much smoother than it had since I bought it a year ago.
So if the rear end is up and in in drive, then the wheel should keep spinning not stop right....and when it tried by had to turn it when it when in neutral, it was much harder to turn than I was expecting, in fact it if I spun it like the wheel on wheel of fortune, Bob Barker would tell me to...
I don't think the differential carrier is worn, it drives prrtty smooth until it gets to operating temperature, then once in a while when in a high gear, like 5th or 6th and 1100rpm it gets jittery, then when I give it more gas, it goes away...ive been down the torque converter shudder in my...
Before I changed out fluid, I went to a reputable wheel alignment shop and they put up the rear end and just like you said spun the tires in drive...the shop owner said everything looks great, driveline, u joints suspension bushings....he said it was rear passenger tire was so bad he thought I...
Well guys sorry for the late response, but I went ahead with the differential fluid change (mobile 1 75w90 synthetic with LS and it rolls much, much better....if brand new is 100 percent smooth, I went from it being 25% smooth to about 75% smooth. Money is very tight right now, so I did the...
Thanks to all you guys, I appreciate all the great help and advice. I just called the dealership and they ran the last 8 on my vin and he said like you guys said, that Mobil 1 75w90 is fine to use.....im trying to stop what I think is rear differential chatter....i hope this fluid helps....the...
Last night I bought Mobil 1 75w90 synthetic WITH limited slip additive....is it safe....? I don't know if mine is a g80....i have 2wd, Auto and 4wd high.....i DON'T have 4wd Low....what rear differential do I have?
It's a 2011 Tahoe LS.
I have a 2011 Tahoe LS 4wd. Does anyone know what the correct diff oil I need? I was just going to put (Mobile 1) 75w90 synthetic with limited slip additive already in it. Is this the right gear oil?
Also, do I need a new gasket? Or is the gasket reusable? And lastly, do I need new bolts...
I understand why your questioning lugging.....maybe because the tire skips it feels like a lugging feel...i guess I should get a new tire(s) to see if the lugging or sluggishness goes a away...i still think the shift points on an 680L should be at higher rpms, and a software update on the tcm...
Thanks for the info...so for a GMT900 using an 18 inch rim, 265/65/18 is stock size....i bought this Tahoe used, and didn't know what the stock size would be, just assumed it was stock size....but always thought because of the 6spd lugging a smaller tire would help the lugging...
It seems my tahoe lugs because of the 6spd transmission (low rpm in 4,5,and 6th gear) i have always been thinking that a 1 inch LESS overall tire height would help stop the lugging when in over drive gears because the rpms would be higher, and the tahoe would be more in the powerband range. Any...
I'm having a shake/Vibration in my 2011 tahoe at about 30 mph ...had a shop lift up the rear end and spin the rear tires and the guy said at first thought I had a bent axle, but was the passenger rear tire was warped badly, and i mean badly. My tires are Goodyear 265/65/18 SR-A.... The tire...
Well I got one off of Amazon that was from Amazon Warehouse that was "used" but was described as "Like New Condition". So instead of the regular price of $299 for a 2007- to present Tahoe,Yukon i paid 239.00. Waited for a deal like this to happen.
When it was delivered the box was just a little...
Does anyone have these wheels on there Tahoe 2007 to 2014. I'm thinking about getting these wheels and lowering it just a little bit does anyone have a picture with these wheels on their Tahoe? These are Escalade rims they're aftermarket and they're hyper silver color that I like I just wanted...
