Bad tire causing bad shake/vibration

I'm having a shake/Vibration in my 2011 tahoe at about 30 mph ...had a shop lift up the rear end and spin the rear tires and the guy said at first thought I had a bent axle, but was the passenger rear tire was warped badly, and i mean badly. My tires are Goodyear 265/65/18 SR-A.... The tire tread is (im guessing) has about 20,000 good miles left....so it surprised me that a tire could cause a driveline type of vibration.

1. Anybody have an opinion on these Goodyear SR-A tires?

Also, I called Les Swab for tire prices on a tire that's 265/65/18 to match that bad tire, and the salesman said 265/65/18 is too big and recommended 245/60/18.

2. What is the correct tire size or the best tire size for highway driving on a 2011 tahoe/Yukon 5.3 v8 4wd?

Look inside drivers door and it will tell you stock size your truc came with.
Any tire you want.
Dont listen that dope.
I have 285/70/17 and my 13 runs fine hghway, rain snow or sun.

Tires go bad and come apart. In the south, especially here in Florida, they last about 4 years in the heat, regardless of treadwear. Goodyear, General, Firestone in my experience are of lesser build quality and when I was in the tire business, saw many more of these come apart than other brands like BFG, Michelin, Toyo.

It seems my tahoe lugs because of the 6spd transmission (low rpm in 4,5,and 6th gear) i have always been thinking that a 1 inch LESS overall tire height would help stop the lugging when in over drive gears because the rpms would be higher, and the tahoe would be more in the powerband range. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the info...so for a GMT900 using an 18 inch rim, 265/65/18 is stock size....i bought this Tahoe used, and didn't know what the stock size would be, just assumed it was stock size....but always thought because of the 6spd lugging a smaller tire would help the lugging...

Lugging? Do you have 3.08 gears? What did the Tahoe come with originally? As Pete said, It will be on your Tire Load and Information sticker inside the driver's door and as RPO codes in the glovebox.

I understand why your questioning lugging.....maybe because the tire skips it feels like a lugging feel...i guess I should get a new tire(s) to see if the lugging or sluggishness goes a away...i still think the shift points on an 680L should be at higher rpms, and a software update on the tcm would help

Well, I don't understand what you mean by lugging with regards to tires. If your tire is warped and you feel a vibration, the tire has a broken belt and is not safe to drive on. The shifts are controlled by the computer by mph and other parameters, not exclusively rpm like the old days. A BlackBear tune will improve the performance of your transmission as it did mine.
