It’s usually like this picture but can be dense on occasion. Definitely when it’s cooler outside it happens more. I add coolant about once every 2-3 months, just a top off, 1/4 of the bottle. It was every 2 weeks I had to FILL before the delete.
So when the coolant loss first started, WAY before the delete, it was wet around my thermostat housing. I changed that and it never happened there again but i still lost coolant. There is never anything on the ground so it has to be coming from somewhere. But I also feel like my exhaust DOES...

That would make sense as to why it started like that after the change. I’m going to use that filter next change and see if there’s a difference. (I hope that’s the problem). Thank you, again. You guys have been so helpful!
good news, I guess. I’m annoyed they would do that but I’m not surprised.
We did pennzoil 5w30 in my last change and that’s when I heard the slight tick start. Is there a better brand I should be considering?
It never made the noise after the delete (September 2022) It started just recently, after my first oil change since the delete (Feb 2023). I brought it to my mechanic who listened and said it sounds like a normal LS engine and suggested using an ac delco oil filter. I told them to do a basic...
the code was for the wheel speed sensor, so unrelated to what was going on but of course I’d have more than one issue♀️
I always bring my dad with me or actually have him take it for me because I never feel like people listen to me.
I feel like they should’ve seen a cracked cylinder head or...
I did not ask for anything specific. I asked for the basic delete. He did say why he put that in there but I really can’t remember what he said. I’m also not sure why he put 0w-40? Unless it was a mistype.
I have a regular mechanic and a performance shop that did the DoD delete. I’m taking it to my regular mechanic to see what he suggests first tomorrow morning and then I’ll update and go from there. Hopefully I don’t need to go back to the performance shop.
THANK YOU. Everyone has been telling me it’s fine and not listening to any of my concerns (not the forum, other mechanics). I did a pressure test before the delete and the guy said it was fine…but I’m going to keep going somewhere until I can figure it out.
I guess my worry comes from it happening all of a sudden, it was quiet until a month ago. Or maybe it was happening all the time and I couldn’t hear it over the loud ass pulley but it definitely wasn’t doing this after the delete.
I wish I could just rebuild it if that happens to me lol
Would I be reaching if I thought this was a manifold problem? I have coolant loss and it’s NOT mixing with oil and sometimes the exhaust smokes heavy white. Also, since they did the DoD delete would they have seen if I had a crack in the...
Ok awesome. I’m taking it to my mechanic Monday just so he’s aware of the noise and can see if maybe there’s a manifold leak. If not, I’ll keep an eye out like you suggest. Thank you for the helpful comments. It is very appreciated. I will update here if anything!
My husband and dad say it’s probably normal and that I’m just hyper-aware of the sounds my car makes, which is true but I definitely hear it and don’t remember hearing it until recently.
I will take another video where I can have someone revving for me this afternoon. Thank you for your input...
thank you, I have people telling me I’m crazy and that I’m hearing things but I know my truck. I’m hoping it’s anything but the lifter as I JUST fixed them.
This may or may not be related, but sometimes I get a lot of smoke coming from the exhaust and sometimes I don’t. It’s random. I also had...
My 13 Tahoe was ticking so bad, took it to get an AFM delete and it was a bent pushrod. The shop I went to is experienced in this and they did the full delete + tune this past September. It was making a squealing noise which I knew was my idler pulley, but then I started hearing a faint tick. I...
Hey all,
Thanks for the replies. Brought the Tahoe to a performance shop and got it back today. Bent pushrod, bad gasket on one of the cylinders, was very dirty. Did a DoD delete and she runs beautiful. Hoping the gasket was my coolant problem too!
