    Im not sure what to make of that insert. It looks like somebody either repaired the cover and made that sensor work or the cover is some kind of aftermarket version that doesnt use a stock sensor.

    I dont recall any brass insert in mine. The end of the sensor is actually a magnetic pick up and needs to be kind of close to the passing teeth of the reluctor wheel.
