    Unknown sensor (?) wire

Thanks for the tip on AllData. Every time I looked at it in the past all I saw was a zillion dollars a month, but that must have been the all-vehicle subscriptions. I bent over for the 3-year plan, less than 1/4 the current Helm manual cost. Pretty sure it's a ground that goes to G102...

    Unknown sensor (?) wire

HOW can I verify a bad PCM ?? I have NO codes. Nothing, though the code reader seems to be scanning for codes and I get other gauge indications on the scanner (voltage, speed, G's, etc)

    Unknown sensor (?) wire

I see places offering to program before shipping. One place is Flagship One. Anyone recommend a place to program and ship it to me?

    Unknown sensor (?) wire

Ummmm, yeah. I feared that. No Tech II, only a bluetooth OBDII reader that's pretty comprehensive but not nearly a Tech II. Can a shop copy my PCM and reprogram another one without the vehicle, or am I going to have to get it towed? Damn I feel like a moron. Working on cars since my first...

    Unknown sensor (?) wire

Not sure what I'm looking for. The wires are fine. The one that's got the bullet connector to the red wire is a thin black wire with no trace. Guessing 18 gauge, but stiffer than typical stranded.

    Unknown sensor (?) wire

One more DUMB thing I did... I had to put the truck into neutral to get the front driveshaft off. Battery was already disconnected and to leave it in neutral I had to leave the key "on". No problem till I reconnected the battery and forgot that the key was on. Remembered when I went to start...

    Unknown sensor (?) wire

Maybe it was just taped off after something the original owner removed (though there's no evidence of an alarm, etc). However, an alarm guy would usually take power closer to the fuse panel and not out of some wire nicely branched out of a loom that runs in front of the pan. Sure looks like it...

    Unknown sensor (?) wire

No codes. Tried clearing codes and the MIL stayed on, but still no codes. The wire is about 6 inches long and there's nothing I can see anywhere that it can stretch.

    Unknown sensor (?) wire

The wire it comes from is a thin, fairly stiff, plain black wire that is in its own plastic armor cover maybe 4-5 inches long from where it branches off a larger harness. This single armor was ty-rapped to the larger harness as you'd do to keep it out of the way.

    Unknown sensor (?) wire

It does look like a bullet connector, but if it's a repair it's really old. Bought the vehicle in 2008 with 36K. I sure didn't do it.

O V without the key on, 12 V with the key on, and I have a Check Engine Light. Going to go reasd the code now.

    Unknown sensor (?) wire

Didn't check voltage yet but it's a no-start with the wire disconnected. Cranks fine. No MIL.

    Unknown sensor (?) wire

Left side between the center link and oil pan. It reaches to the front differential, or the underside of the PS pump. Nothing to attach to that I can find.

    Unknown sensor (?) wire

2005 Yukon Denali XL Anybody got a schematic or recognize this? Finishing replacing oil cooler lines. While I was pulling the old ones out and the new ones in, there was one exposed red (maybe 18-gauge) wire heading out of the loom that runs across the front of bottom of the engine (6.0). At...

Venting - me, not the Yukon

First vehicle where I haven't bought the factory manual. Unobtanium now. But the quick assembly comes at the cost of some real PIA disassembly jobs. I'm an old guy and have turned wrenches since the early 60's actually longer with go-karts and lawn mowers. I understand efficient assembly but...

Venting - me, not the Yukon

These are oil cooler lines. Other side of the engine and heavier. Routed right over the front diff. I eventually worked the old ones out the back and the new ones, probably helped by being more flexible and also the fact that I'd just pulled the old ones and knew it was possible, went in...

2003 Tahoe coolant system leak or head gasket leak?

The leakage eventually became noticeable, and came from the HVAC case drain hose. Pressure testing made it leak there more.

Venting - me, not the Yukon

Bought our 2005 Yukon Denali XL in January 2008 as an off-lease vehicle. Noticed the oil cooler lines were weeping and had them give me a set with the deal. FInally got around to changing them yesterday - yes, 14 years later. I've done this job with a 4WD 93 Suburban and had NO IDEA what an...

2003 Tahoe coolant system leak or head gasket leak?

Old thread but FWIW I had this symptom. Turned out to be the heater core. If you've ever done that job you know how desperate I was NOT to do it on this truck. I flushed thoroughly and used Bar's Leaks but the leak continued. Drained that brand new Dex Cool and flushed really thoroughly...

    Testing evap valve

The YouTube geniuses were wrong. The engine needs to be running. I went out and tested three more valves at parts stores and only one held some vacuum - 10" or so. I came back, put the vacuum pump onto the valve, and started the engine - it holds 25'. Its not a check valve, so should seal...

    Testing evap valve

Well darn. And I don't really mean DARN. New one - this one does not look to be a resealed package, but just like the first one I got and the one in the truck, it only holds about 5-6" of vacuum. If I put my finger over the bottom of the valve it'll hold 25", so I'm sure it's not my MityVac or...

    Testing evap valve

My wife's 2005 Yukon Denali 6.0 had the evap codes maybe 5 tears ago. The lines were all good, and one by one I replaced the valve at the canister, the gas cap, and finally the valve on top of the engine - the easy one to get to. That fixed it for years. Now she has a P0442 MIL - Small evap...

    Brake Buying advice

After going through way too many "premium" aftermarket rotors and pads, I've standardized on Delco OES stuff - what the Yukon came with. Ditto my Mustang Cobra, though I can't get those factory rotors and use the higher grades of Centric rotors, not slotted or drilled. Mountain driving...

    Oil pressure oddity

Might not be your issue, but we had an oil weirdness on our 93 Suburban. Even a slight overfill of the oil would cause foaming and that would indeed reduce oil pressure. I almost always do all my own work on all my vehicles, but once when it was nasty cold (Chicago area) and there was a GM...
