What is this part on the cat/downpipe

Yeah, I mean if the cats are worth some money, id rather not give it to the local scrappers. It be nice to recoup a little of my cost.

What is this part on the cat/downpipe

Anyone know where I can scrap these cats? I don't want to throw them out. Would a scrap yard take them? Or is there a place that takes cats?

What is this part on the cat/downpipe

Thanks, if you still want it we can work something out. I won't have a need for them.

What is this part on the cat/downpipe

I would need to replace it as soon as I take it off. I drive it for work.

What is this part on the cat/downpipe

Gonna have to get a replacement anyways. Gutted the cat and the rattling noise is gone, but the drone in crazy loud now. Not exactly the best when driving around a newborn.

What is this part on the cat/downpipe

Cat gutted, also replaced exhaust with a cat back system. No more rattling. Guess we will see if it fails emissions next time I go in.

What is this part on the cat/downpipe

That's a good idea. I may try that out.

What is this part on the cat/downpipe

Yeah, maybe I'll look into it. Maybe I can just have it removed. But I know since my car is newer then 2008 I'm not exempt from the rule. I guess worse case is at that point I just replaced them anyways.

What is this part on the cat/downpipe

I actually thought the same thing, that's actually why I asked the forum. I was confused why there would be a cat after the sensors, so I thought maybe it's something else like a muffler or something. But if I remove it, and I'm in a CARB state, won't that fail regardless because it's missing?

What is this part on the cat/downpipe

I just went ahead and bought the Walker Ultra EPA 50497 for a replacement. It's not CARB compliant technically, but it looks the same and says it will fit. I just can't fathom spending 2k-3k for one that looks exactly the same and will probably perform the same just because it's not CARB...

    That's what I was assuming.

What is this part on the cat/downpipe

No, that's right before the muffler. Others say it's a third cat.

What is this part on the cat/downpipe

I'm in PA, we are CARB compliant unfortunately.

What is this part on the cat/downpipe

This "muffler"? Is rattling. But I can't figure out what this part of the downpipe is. I know the two cats are above it. I can't seem to find a diagram stating what it is. Is it another muffler? Or a resonator?

    Another noise diagnosing help

Guess I need to figure out why my cat failed. Might be due to my slight coolant loss maybe  Can't catch a break with this car.

    Another noise diagnosing help

Hey all, I got another noise I'm trying to figure out. Kinda sounds like a very light metal scraping noise when I put a little gas on the throttle. It's pretty noticable when I'm driving around and mistook it for brakes or a heat shield, but after hearing it when the truck was idling, I...

Help diagnosing a rhythmic thumping noise when driving.

Torque converter. Went long enough to damage the transmission apparently bunch of metal in the pan. Figured to get it checked because transmission started slipping.
