Got to thinking how a traction control failure would cause a P2138 code. No way unless ECM was bad. Decided i would disconnect the battery cables again and zip tied them together while i went and drank a beer. About 30 or 40 minutes later i reconnected them to the battery. Checked for any...
well y'all, got to drive the Tahoe myself. after reading a post that said a low fluid level could cause it to go into reduced power mode, I checked oil levels. engine oil was good, transmission oil was about a half quart low. serviced transmission and me and 8 year old grandson took it for a...
oh, ok. well the throttle body and throttle position sensor came as a unit. wiring does look good in that area. the stabilitrak (auto ride) doesn't have anything to do with reduced power?
ok got some more info on that reduced power problem. step daughter says right before the reduced power comes into play she gets stabilitrak off message followed by reduced power message and engine won't accelerate. changed MAF sensor and cleaned connections on all O2 sensors. sensors appear...
welp stepdaughter was driving today and the engine went into "reduced power" mode again. no codes. the throttle body and position sensor assembly and accelerator sensor have been changed. was fine for about 2 weeks. what's next y'all? google says clean MAF sensor and O2 senors.. they...
wanted to thank everyone who replied to my oil pressure problem.. during my career working on helicopters, I remembered that if we had a low oil pressure problem, first thing we did was change the oil. decided I would do that before I started tearing things apart. Even though truck said it had...
I don't own any ramps. the ramps will raise the vehicle about 6 or 8 inches, correct? I am usually the only one around when i do any maintenance on vehicles. maybe i can rent some ramps from the local parts store. hate to have to buy some for a one or 2 time use.
thanks for the reply. wow, looking at those pressures you quoted, i would think those lifters would be banging out of the engine. I did replace the oil pressure sensor and inspected the connector and wiring. but still throwing that code. my Foxwell OBD tool doesn't have an oil pressure...
well did some checking with the local mechanic shops.. most of them quoted $400.00 to $500.00 to replace the o ring on the pick up tube. guess i'm gonna have to bite the bullet and overcome my phobia of crawling under anything heavy. back ground, i was crushed by a helicopter back in 2007 and...
thank you for the reply. still have to do a lot of part removal just to get to the pickup tube. oil pan removal, not to mention drilling rivets out that hold factory gasket on oil pan (if it is still factory gasket). also according to what i have seen and read, removing a cross member frame...
just checked the Tahoe after a day of driving. P0521 code is back, so apparently 20PSI to 25PSI is not enough pressure to keep light off. also it only climbs to about 30PSI at 60 MPH. i'm thinking about trying some 10W-30 oil to see if pressure increases. if it doesn't help keep that CEL...
whew thanks for that info. i thought it should be higher, like around 30 or 40 PSI. at highway speed it may get up to 35 PSI or so. i'm so used to seeing pressures around 40 PSI at all engine speeds that this kinda scared me. my trailblazer and tundra both run at about 40 PSI.
ok all. replaced the oil pressure sensor and screen. did my leak check and function check. oil pressure is still about 20 PSI at idle. man it was a pain to change but got it done. next question is, what's next? and hopefully it ain't an oil pump.
thanks for that info. was trying to do it with minimal tear down, but if intake needs to be removed, guess i will have to bite the bullet. what about the plastic panel? can i leave it off in case sensor fails again, or does it retain that brake booster hose?
Got a new problem now. New code P0521 oil pressure. went and got an oil pressure sensor and screen. picked up the tahoe from stepdaughter's work and drove it home. pressure indicate less than 20 psi at idle but climbs to about 30 at 60MPH.. got home and tried to access the POS sensor and...
great information, thank you. Stepdaughter won't be towing or carrying heavy loads. you mentioned installing some resistors. where do you install them? Thanks again for the help.
wife and stepdaughter went out and bought a used 2009 Tahoe with 137,000 miles on it. has some existing problems. think i got the "reduced power" P2138 problem fixed. big problem now is a "suspension system needs serviced" message on dash window. I have no clue as to what this is other than...
