The paint bubbling is coming from pin hole rust from behind. There is sound deadening insulation on the other side that holds water against that panel. Especially on the right side where the HVAC unit is. A "true body shop" wanted to replace the entire panels at $3K per side and like yourself...
That would be Auto Cooling Solutions. They make them from high pressure A/C barrier hose. I did consider buying them however I was talked out of it. They aren't cheap either and shipping into Canada is expensive. I'd probably go that route next round though.
That rear HVAC line is a problem in multiple generations and not a cheap repair. The lines should be coated front to back as the aluminum corrodes at any contact point along the routing. I've had them corrode in both my 2005 Suburban and my 2011 Suburban. They seem to last about 10 years in...
That's what I thought regarding AFM disable. In my case I don't drive our Suburban enough to care about the extra options from a tune out. It's just a weekend vehicle to get back to our cabin pulling a trailer and/or a third vehicle to use in a pinch. I just wanted to get rid of the annoyance...
While I'm not familiar with the 2017 AFM, on the 2011's there is a screen in the driver center which shows you real time fuel mileage, within that screen it will show you if you are in 8 cyl or 4 cyl mode. If the shutter occurs when you are in 4 Cyl mode then it's likely your AFM system causing...
The Aluminum lines do get pitted and corrode however 2 years is not acceptable performance. Both my former 2005 and my current 2011 rear lines gave way at around the 11 year mark. I replaced the rear lines on my 2011 in September 2021 with OEM replacements and just had them corrode through...
I had expected it to break near the spline. This is where mine failed and I replaced with a GM replacement (15277756). The inner part is aluminum and fused to the spline on the motor side. It took me a moment to realize that; the new one was not fitting. This is a 2011 Suburban.
I'm not sure of the 2015+ models but on the 2007-14 models the liftgate glass not opening may have to do with the wiper motor transmission not sensing that the wiper is in park position. It will only allow the liftgate glass to open when in park position. I'm not sure if it is the same on the...
The switch is easily replaceable. You just pull it out of its hole, unplug it from the wire harness and plug a new one in. In your case you'll have to fish out the connector. The GM part number for 07-14 models is 22863048 and you can get them on amazon in both OEM and aftermarket. Here's...
This is a little late but in case someone references this post in the future. In the OP's case the wiper motor works (because it moves still) but the attached wiper transmission is broken. It's all part of the same assembly.
The transmission is the part that makes the wiper move in both...
I gather that is the case. Lots of salt and sand used here in the north. My Suburban is subject to lots of gravel road use too. I do get it undercoated yearly but I still have corrosion issues.
Yup, I've seen this too. I wish my 2011 Suburban LT was as clean as yours is. The northern climate eats these for breakfast. Replacing both coolant and AC lines and not too happy about it either. I had the same problem on my previous 2005 Suburban Z71. I see you have already noted my thread...
I'm leaving this here for future reference as there are not too many details on the replacement of the rear auxiliary HVAC lines on the 2007-2014 Suburban/Yukon XL. This applies to the Tahoe and Yukon too but the HVAC line part numbers will be different. It also applies to GMT-800 models and...
