    Basically just poke around with the probe on the stethoscope till you find where the noise is the loudest. There will be a general whirring sound everywhere on the engine just from the noises of combustion. You said the noise doesn't change with RPM? If so, does it go away at higher RPMs?

    What exactly do you mean by design flaws? The 8.1 is a Gen VI big-block and the 6.0 in the 2500hd is the same 6.0 that's in the denali yukons. I personally have a 04 2500HD 6.0 and there isn't a design flaw present. Truck has never overheated no matter how hard I run it or when I have towed.

    I looked at rock auto. Seemed to have a pretty limited supply of parts in general for my Denali and nothing really for interior. I have used them quite a bit before and have always been very happy. Also I will try Craigslist, eBay didn't have a great selection currently.
