Exploring 2500 Purchase Options (I'm Back?)

So, in exploring our options and what is the most financially responsible thing for us to do, I think we're now leaning toward the 2016+ 3500, especially with the excellent results had by members of this group. The most important part of this for me is to have the payload capacity to carry our...

Exploring 2500 Purchase Options (I'm Back?)

Hypothetically though, if you were pulling an 8k trailer and got in an accident, couldn’t your insurance say “well, you overloaded it, and we won’t pay anything?”

Exploring 2500 Purchase Options (I'm Back?)

I just realized they’re only rated to tow 3k lbs, because they’re made to be outfitted with equipment, but sure the truck is capable of more than that?

Exploring 2500 Purchase Options (I'm Back?)

Oh yeah, I’m well versed with pulling and safety. The anti sway in my current truck though caught us once in a sudden crosswind, and before I could even react it had put on the trailer brakes and straightened us up. I’ve also had to use the spring level before, but I’ve found that proper...

Exploring 2500 Purchase Options (I'm Back?)

Yeah, absolutely. I wouldn’t let it be a decision maker for me, just wanted some real world opinions from people that have used it for what I envision, and based on your examples, I think you have! Oh, that’s good info. I wasn’t so worried about factory brake controller (bizarre they didn’t...

Exploring 2500 Purchase Options (I'm Back?)

Great answers and pretty much exactly what brings me here. I found a BEAUTIFUL 08, Midwest truck with no body rust (waiting to see underneath) but, It’s 9.5 hours away and has 215k Honestly, I’m not scared of the high mileage, as there are so many of the trucks that it should be simple to...

Exploring 2500 Purchase Options (I'm Back?)

Just returned from a nearly 3k mile road trip in our crew cab pickup, with a 4 year old, an 8 month old, me, my wife, and two dogs pulling our camper. The camper isn't huge, but is big enough that with people, animals, and limited gear I'll quickly be over payload with a regular Suburban/ XL...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Replace it. If you don’t, it’ll fail as soon as you get it all back together. Getting it back in is a little bit harder, but very manageable.

Holy shit, what? Your like 20 minutes from me. You still have that hood? Haha

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I don’t actually remember, but I think so. I feel like someone on here did it once before, forever ago. I just meant because the non-cat eye HD hoods were so rare, and there seemed to be more cat-eye HDs out there. Especially in white.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Part of the reason I went with the Cat-eye HD

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I THINK the Z71 could still fit under there too, and might go that direction if I can find one. All the front end parts are KINDA interchangeable, in my experience, but I also kinda want to put larger “off-road” style fogs under it.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

It in fact IS a zone body lift, 1.5”. I had the same idea as you, and can confirm that the HD bumper DOES fit without any modification brackets with the body lifted. I wrote it up on my build thread, but basically the only trouble I had was the park brake cable, and buying the two longer...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Found the correct front valance on the side of the road, where someone must’ve wrecked their truck. The valance was unbroken, with the clips still in it! Score!

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Bumper is wrong, and I still haven’t found a salvage one that’s any kind of quality, but the fenders were $125ish each, and the hood was $250. The lights I got for $50 out of salvage too. The body lift wasn’t too expensive, I forgot the kit, but it’s for a Silverado, you just have to buy a few...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I’ve got a build thread that used to be in my signature line, but I guess that went away. So here’s a link Thanks! I can’t get to the pictures from my phone right now

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Yeah, fenders are different. Those and the headlights are anything with “cat-eyes” including the avalanche, so easier to find than the hood. Bumper is still wrong, need the HD Silverado one, to color match and mount. Thanks, I really like the look of it!

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Resurrected her once again, replaced a bad front brake caliper, mounted 33x12.50s, and cleaned her up. Still got some other things to do, like finish replacing body work, and get the paint fixed most noticeably.

    jarydM’s 2005 Tahoe Build/Rebuild

Took the wheel spacers off because I was getting rub on the bumper corner and the grey trim at the bottom of the wheel-well. Now only rub I get is at significant suspension flex with nearly full lock, but on flat terrain, the wheels go lock to lock without touching anything.

    jarydM’s 2005 Tahoe Build/Rebuild

Well, after a long break, I’m back. I daily-ed the Tahoe to work for a while and it was all good, until one of the used GMT900 front brakes decided to lock up. So I pushed against it for a while, thinking I’d get in there and rebuild it, but when I took off the three months and didn’t drive...
