Mystery noise (loud) from alternator? Not belt squeal...

I used a product similar to this to oil while running, with its design it mad it easy to do. It's a simple way to troubleshoot and cheaper than a new alternator if it is not the issue. http://m.homedepot.com/p/Super-Lube-7ml-Precision-Oiler-Oil-with-Syncolon-PTFE-Lubricant-Per-Each-51010/202932717

Mystery noise (loud) from alternator? Not belt squeal...

To me it almost sounds like a dry bearing, do you have a mechanics stethoscope? Can you tell if it is coming from the front or the rear or center? I had a idler pully on my old Dakota that sounded like that when the bearing was starting to go. One way I tested it was using a bit of Machine oil...

    Transmission pan drop

After allot of reading wondering the same I found that there are many benefits to switching. Longer lasting, increased shearability, etc... GM discontinued Dex III so what you will find is dex/merc. It's what is considered the equivalent and has mixed reviews and not as regulatedas far as...

    Transmission pan drop

^^^^^^^ Yes ^^^^^ I just did this on my trans after replacing a good number of parts in it this last weekend. I also added a external filter so the way I connected the hose was a little different, but the same process none the less. Improved performance for sure and switched to DEX VI. 245K+...

Lots done to the XL the past 2 days

My Yukon was hesitating going into 1st or reverse from park. I found this page and narrowed it down to the EPC. http://www.twincharlotte.com/transmission-repair-blog/bid/28391/30-Common-4L60E-Transmission-Problems-Repair-Charlotte-NC I found a kit with all of the electronic parts all ac delco...

Lots done to the XL the past 2 days

Honestly, I think the work on the trans was easier than doing the pitman and idler, they don't make such a simple part easy to get to...

    230k on the ticker

    Difficulty fueling

Have you checked to see if there is a blockage in the main fueling hose? My old ramcharger did this when I first got it and it had a siphon hose block in the hose. Over time debres accumulated around it and wouldn't let fuel through fast enough so I ended up having the same issue you are. Pulled...

    Brake pedal goes to floor.

My wife's car did the same thing about 2 years ago, ended up being the MC. I would replace it and do a whole system flush which sounds to be needed anyway due to the color. When the seals start to break down on the MC, the system can loose its pressure. Dirty fluid is also bad for everything...

    Adventures in Brakeland

I had a similar experience with a previous vehicle, except on the rear I had fun with 20year old factory drums as well. I have also had a main line go "pop" while driving. I would consider yourself lucky that it happened in a controlled location! Best of luck and let us know what line set you...

    Hesitation from park to first

03 Yukon XL When I put it in drive from park, it hesitates, takes about 5 sec for it to actually engage. If i dont wait, it just kinda slams in. From reverse to drive, only about a sec, and all other gears shift just fine. Fluid is red as it should be, and it doesn't matter if its cold start or...
