New Tahoe stuck 4wd high
The shaft for t case is real hard to turn,that's why motor burnt up and it popped fuse when I installed new motor.shop is very reputable we found a used t-case for $400 and labor $90 so I'm probably just going to have him fix it for me and I'll pull old t case apart to see exactly what failed- KenC

Had shop check it out and turns out transfer case is shot,I'm assuming PO drive it in 4wd cause motor went bad and killed it- KenC

I did check both fuses,I hear module click as well but I've done all I can at this point except throw parts at it which I won't do.thanks for the help I'll let you guys know what I find.just ran all new hard brake lines,calipers,pads,rotors,wheel cylinders,shoes,all new rubber brake hoses,new...- KenC

Neutral light is red,if I select any other option it just blinks and does nothing and truck remains in neutral.i pulled motor off and put it in 2hi.im going to take it to shop I deal with and let them hook it to snap on scanner.- KenC

Had "service 4wd" light on when encoder motor was disconnected and when old motor was in.the light is off but it won't shift t case out of neutral- KenC

i just bought a 98 Tahoe with 144k miles in decent shape for $1500. Just needs some stuff fixed.i redid all the brakes and now on to the 4x4 issue.It was stuck in 4 hi when I gt it and it sat for 2 years.After doing research I replaced encoder motor with a dorman unit and no go.it used to blink...- KenC
