Had shop check it out and turns out transfer case is shot,I'm assuming PO drive it in 4wd cause motor went bad and killed it

what failed exactly? you did say it was working in 4hi? you also mentioned the neutral setting. was the tranny itself in neutral when the t-case was shifting?

The shaft for t case is real hard to turn,that's why motor burnt up and it popped fuse when I installed new motor.shop is very reputable we found a used t-case for $400 and labor $90 so I'm probably just going to have him fix it for me and I'll pull old t case apart to see exactly what failed
