Interesting with the IRS on the spyshots I understand why they had to do it, although admittedly I was hoping maybe they would offer both IRS or solid axle depending on trim/edition.
I'm a very small demographic of customer who was attracted to the GM SUV's because they had the solid axle...
To me the Tahoe with rear buckets is a comfortable 4 adult vehicle, they should have left out the 3rd row or made it an option like the 4Runner's (just imo).
Personally I don't care if someone isn't comfortable in the Tahoe as long as I am, I bought it for me not other passenger's comfort...
2020 is a safe bet being the new pickups are coming out sometime in 2018 for the 2019 model year.
Just hope the auto stop/start will have a defeat switch on them...I heard the 2018 Traverse doesn't have an off switch for the auto stop/start but some other models do.
It free's up significant vertical space for cargo carrying capacity. I completely understand that the majority demographic want the 3rd row though.
It's just nice for people like me who are fans of truck based SUV's and don't have any family obligations, and want maximum cargo space/utility...
I noticed they are offering a 3rd row delete option for 2018 but only in the LS "Custom Edition" package...I wish they offered the option across the board but it's good they are offering it now at least...(imo).
The 2018 Tahoe adds a Custom Edition package for the LS trim level, which includes...
The opposite actually, what bumped me down a trim level was the MRC. Wanted a traditional less stiff suspension, easier/cheaper to repair/replace...
I was quite surprised to see the cost differential in replacement parts...
Should be based on your needs...I drive alone 99.9% of the time. If the option to delete the 3rd row was available for the SWB I would have done it.
I don't know why they bothered putting 3rd row in SWB either...just offer it in the LWB and maximize cargo capacity for the SWB.
Or at least...
If you're going to compare those two you mind as well throw in the Esky as well, to cover the full spectrum to see if you would like any additional features it offers (configurable MRC comes to mind).
If the next gen 2019 Silverado/Sierra drop in Summer 2018, you might see a shortened SUV lifecycle with the 2020 SUV's coming based on the new platform in Summer/Fall 2019...be interesting to see.
If the sales figures corroborate that when those are released to market, it will be good because GM will be forced to respond in an effort to stem market share loss. Increased competition may cause them to update the SUV's as fast as the Silverado/Sierra line with more mid-cycle refreshes and...
They really should offer a 3rd row delete option on the short body, like the 4Runner. That way each body style is optimized for what it is interior space wise (imo)...
Next gen Silverado/Sierra for 2019 model year from what I've read...which could follow up with a model year 2020 next gen SUV design.
GM seems to have shortened the length of time for the current generation of their Silverado/Sierra compared to previous generations. Then it's a matter of...
Definitely considering trading in 2018 for one. I have a feeling I'll be driving around in "M9" though lol....
I still wish they offered "strippers" with just the big engine, but at least this is better than nothing...the chrome delete is a bonus as well (for me).
I can already see future forum advice for the 10 speeds...for better driving on local streets make sure you put it in "M9"...
I'm just glad they are finally offering the bigger engine without all the exterior bling if you just want the power...
Although I still wish they would offer the 6.2 in...
If you drive by yourself and/or don't have kids the 3rd row issue is basically meaningless imo.
I wish you could actually specify no 3rd row at all on the short wheelbase models...I would take the extra vertical space saved in the cargo area in a heartbeat.
That's a re-design cycle, I was thinking mid-cycle refresh...The 2014 Silverado's have already been refreshed, so there's a good chance the SUV's are next being they were released one year later.
I'm personal waiting to see what they are planning for 2018 but it's all speculation until spy...
Right before the 2018 refresh lands in less than a year 2017's will be heavily discounted imo, because they will be the last year of the "older" 2015 design before the refresh (just imo of course)....
Had lake effect snow yesterday and this morning, even on the stock tires I was flooring it and having a blast whenever traffic thinned out enough...trying to get the rear end to kick out and then it would catch/correct itself. Great snow vehicle imo....
I agree, even the 2017 "Midnight" edition of the Z71 still has too much chrome, they need to black out more trim pieces like on the blacked out Silverado imo...
