Any recommendations on a Houston area tuner? Not really looking for power but just to wake up what I know is there but not available. I want dod deleted, trans tunned, and some torque management dealt with. Would like an in person tune if possible.
Stock 2012 5.3l tahoe LT 4x4
I know what you mean. I only went with this set up because it was quick and easy. I eventually want dual exit out of the rear corners. Having all the sound on one side of the truck is kinda strange. Something to consider when making your decision.
Cold start with Magnaflow 12589 and resonator delete:
Warm start with Carven R Series and slp 31059 kit in place of resonator:
Truck at full operating temp rev. To 4k RPM:
Overall I am extremely happy with it. Fairly loud outside but suprisingly quiet in cab with windows up. Almost no...
Ok its done. I’ve decided to leave the cat because the truck is plenty loud enough for now haha. Will upload a video of before and after later tonight or tomorrow.
That is a very good point. I really dont know what it is. I had my exhaust disconnected and Y-pipe off when I did my trans rebuild and saw a honeycomb type shield at the exit port. Same as the two primary cats. I just assumed it was. I would be happy to find out though. I work at a custom fab...
Pulled the trigger on a Carven R series muffler and the SLP resonator delete tip. Should be here at the end of the week. I’ll be replacing my magnaflow 12589. Its just way to quiet for me. But while I’m at it I thought what the hell! Lets see if I can cut that third cat out as well for a little...
Has anyone tried the afm/dod delete kit from texas speed and performance? Want to know if its cost effective or cheaper to come up with your own parts. As I have considered a cam from them I'm thinking about doing it all at once.
DOD Delete kit...
I have the bfg k02 and love them. Same road noise as the factory tires. They did stiffen up the ride some as they are load range e. However they are very expensive. But I'm very satisfied with them on and off road.
I can't believe a damn thing broke before I even hit 60,000 miles. I bought one and I'm going to attempt to swap it out myself. On my previous NBS truck I didn't have to change them until close to 100k. And I have the 4x4.... fun times.
Lil_Stump is pretty spot on with 295/55R20. I used this to give me and idea of how big the tire was. I dont know how accurate it is but its at least in the ball park.
@Jonah52 if you just do a level and trim up the front valence it makes the truck look much bigger than it is. Highly recommend it if your looking to change the look of the truck. Tire help of course lol.
These are the best I have with my phone. I need to clean it up and shoot some with the DSLR I recently picked up. Its rained here in houston for the last 5 days so she's pretty dirty at the moment. I'll see if I can get one this weekend as I'll be in galveston again for the Corvette Chevy Expo.
Well that explains it. I wonder if it could be swapped out for a 2 speed case. Its probably more expensive than its worth though. And this truck honestly never sees anything that would even warrant that type upgrade.
The truck is a LT model. Has stadard suspension and only heated seats not cooled. Other than that its pretty loaded except the AWD/4WD. Maybe you guys can shed some light on this for me. As this is the only truck I have ever seen with this set up. I have the option of 2WD, Auto, and 4WD Hi(i...
It completely changed the attitude of the truck. One of the best changes I have made IMO. I debaged the LT and flex fuel. Also the dealer name plate. I only left the TAHOE lettering. Probably going to shoot it flat black.
Unfortunately its the AWD model. But as I live in Houston Tx this is more than likely the only offroad terrain this truck will ever see. Its mostly a daily/ family vehicle. It handled everything I threw at it with ease though. It satisfied my needs for now. LOL
Had some fun at the beach today. New BFG K02's did waaaaaay better than the stockers.
Truck has 2"RC front level and and BFG A/T K02's in 305/65-17 on a 8.5 wide wheel with a +10 offset.
Is a trans service and filter the only thing due at 50k? I'm getting ready to do some work on the truck and am looking for maintenance recommendations for 50k.
I figured I would do front and rear diff's along with belts and hoses(also coolant).
