I would think it would be a bit difficult to do it without removing the entire seat. Not saying it couldn't be done but I did mine (NBS) with it out.

Perhaps the Durofoam for my NBS is different from the one you got for your year, but I find it just about perfect for support and comfort. I do prefer a bit more support as opposed to plush. I have several compressed discs in my lower spine, have had sciatica in both legs at different times...
I'd suggest picking up an OE thermostat at the OE temp, and changing that out. When you pull the current one out, see if it has an opening temperature stamped on it. If the new thermostat has a jiggle pin it should be oriented at the top of the thermostat, as installed.

I have to say that our knowledge base has been positively upgraded. I'm not sure I'd ever thought to look for it there. Kudos to @915_Tahoe for his advice!
It's likely that the sensor wasn't defective, since the charcoal pellets would have made an evap test difficult if not impossible, and...
Remember, too, that the pressurized cooling system raises the boiling point of the liquid. At my altitude plain water boils at about 200°F, so we are very careful to maintain the pressurized system and use the appropriate coolant to keep the boiling point as high as possible.
Something that might point to the cause is to use a good bidirectional scanner on it that can read body codes (that's after you hook up everything again).
@iamdub did it but he's on hiatus for a while. His story starts about at the link below (and he provides detail links a few posts down from that):

The only thing that stands out in the screen shots is the sum of the short- and long-term fuel trims for Bank 1; everything else seems okay. Being that close to 10 deserves a closer look at some point, but is likely not related to the current code on Bank 2. (Bank 1: dirty injector? Verify...
Would still like to see the MAF reading in g/sec at hot idle, just to be sure it's close to engine displacement. And hearing that the fuel trims are lower on one bank than another doesn't really tell much. Where are they numbers-wise? Do the trims change a lot when raising the RPMs to 1500 or...
I would go to www.gmpartsdirect.com and enter your VIN. Then look for Parts. There are two transfer case motors depending on your RPO code and TC. Here's an example of what I saw using Make-Model-Engine:
Here's a pic from Rock Auto; note that the motor socket is key-splined, as your 246...
Is the fuel system management going into closed loop and staying there?
I would be curious about the short- and long-term fuel trims (both banks) and what the MAF is reporting at hot idle, if you have access to that info.

To add the extra PIDs in Torque Pro:
1. go to Settings
2. select "Manage extra PIDs/Sensors"
3. click on the three-dot (kebab) menu at the top and select "Add predefined set"
4. select the vehicle manufacturer (e.g., "Pontiac / GM / Opel / Vauxhall")
