A trailer brake controller is an absolute must for that much weight in my experience. I tow a heavy tent trailer w/ toy hauler with a 6.0L LQ9 Escalade ESV and the stopping difference is completely night and day. Good luck and stay safe!
You can do it! If you can do a solid brake job you can do this. Just give yourself time and watch a bunch of youtube vids.
Belts and t-stat is a good idea, especially if you don't know when they were changed last. There is some question on which t-stat to use for which engine, make sure you...
2005 Escalade ESV AWD
I am going to change the oil pan gasket, and I've seen how you need to drop the front differential at least partially to be able to remove the oil pan. There is also a flat steel crossmember that is in the way that seems like it will need to come out, and maybe some of...
I guess the sending unit going bad is a common problem, but if it were me I would just take it by a shop and have them check the pressure - should be pretty inexpensive just to ensure peace of mind that it's either the gauge or sending unit and not actual low pressure.
Thanks Scott, I already had an oil test kit on the way - good advice.
I finished changing the oil pump, everything seems to be sounding/working good, except I think I have an oil leak now. Whew what a job. Probably the most technical repair I've ever done.
More than happy to diagnose an oil...
I've never done it before, but I guess I'm going to dive in and replace the oil pump myself this weekend and see how it goes. I figure a couple days of labor and $200 in parts/tools is worth a shot. If there are are still any sounds or if pressure doesn't return I'll tow it to the shop and...
2005 Cadillac Escalade ESV 155K AWD 6.0L Vortec Engine, no mods, all stock.
The truck was driven with zero oil pressure for a few minutes and started up a couple of times during subsequent diagnosis. I've asked my questions up front and put the detailed symptoms, event details, and...
I know this is super old, but I thought I would throw in my two cents in case it could help anyone. I had the exact same symptoms on my 2005 Escalade. It turned out to be the MAF. I put in a K&N air filter, the type you oil, and I guess I put too much oil on. It dirtied up the MAF. I pulled...
