Obd2 port not communicating and very rare no crank condition

For my vehicle (daughter's), the wiring diagrams from BBB Industries (you now have to register to get access), show Splice Packs (SPxxxx) where the class 2 lines from the different modules are connected. If you have easy access to them that is a simple way to eliminate the offending module/wire...

Obd2 port not communicating and very rare no crank condition

I just worked on my daughter's 04 Denali with 230K miles and after-market remote start/alarm, for a dead battery (1 year old & OK). Once it was jumped the I/P had no gauges or lights except MIL, ABS, and Battery. There was No Comm with Autel scan tool. Also, windows, locks, and A/C were inop...

    Tech 2 Purchase

Tech 2 wins the short money contest. Tech 2 is great for OBD II 2013 GM cars, but GM no longer supports/issues updates. By model year 2014 virtually all GM vehicles are serviced by using the MDI/GDS2 application. There is a subscription fee, maybe monthly - not sure for non-GM employees. I do...

    Tech 2 Purchase

I have the Autel Maxisys MS908. I've been using it on the family's small fleet of GM cars, trucks, SUVs, and cross-overs since last September. I am a retired GM Powertrain Service engineer. I used and validated GM's scan tools: Tech 1, Tech 2, GDS, GDS2, and TECH2WIN. The MS908 has all the...

TECH2 how it was used to diagnose and replace the right part

Thanks guys. Now that it's warmed up a bit here in SE Michigan, I'll be back t it on the daughter's '04 Denali. I am just relieved it got through the winter w/o any issues. At one point though, I thought I'd have to tear the dash apart to fix the inop HVAC stepper controls, due to no heat. But...

TECH2 how it was used to diagnose and replace the right part

I think the subject deserves a thread added to the forum. I have used the GM diagnostic tools: TECH 1, TECH 2, TECH2WIN, and GDS2. I have very little experience with other manufacturer's scan tools. I retired from GM Powertrain controls service engineering a few years ago. Since retiring, and...

    2004 Yukon Denali XL - new cats & rear HO2Ss Now P0141 & P0161

I installed the old (Delphi - OEM?) B1S2 & B2S2, and ran the Yukon. No P0141 & P0161. I looked closely at the new AC Delco sensors and found the pins for the heaters had backed out. Re-seated them, reinstalled and all is good.

    Engine cover revived

Jumping in late, but I like the result. I think I'll do that to my kid's 04 Denali engine cover, while it's off.

Who paid Onstar or is it worth it Or 4g service Is it worth it.

I have a 2013 GMC with the basic plan. I like knowing OnStar can locate and disable the vehicle if it is ever stolen. The lock-out feature is good to have (haven't needed it or locate/shut-down either, thanks to goodness).

    2004 Yukon Denali XL - new cats & rear HO2Ss Now P0141 & P0161

Hi, new here, but not new to these wonderful machines that can be so challenging. Anyway, previous to repairs, P0420 & P0430 were set. I replaced both the cats and rear HO2Ss (AC Delco 213-3867 | specified replacements for the OEM sensors), they had over 150k miles and 18 years on them. The...

My daughter's 2004 Yukon Denali XL

Hello back. My name is Warren, but I go by Mike. I know, it's a bit confusing. But I prefer my middle name, Michael/Mike; because, Warren was my dad and I was called Mike - my middle name, by family and friends. I had a milestone birthday a week ago Tuesday, and the better-half said go ahead...

My daughter's 2004 Yukon Denali XL

Hi, I'm Mike. I'm helping my daughter and her husband with repairs to their 2004 Yukon Denali XL. I salute them for buying used, make that very used ~240K, to keep their finances in control. It's a fun challenge, there are plenty of 'issues' to address in a 14/15 year old NE vehicle, that has...
