Or should I get a short hitch extension? I’m not worried about the weight, it’s around 4000 pounds max. I’ll be picking up the trailer this week. Probably a dumb question, but thanks for any help
That sucks. Sorry to have set a $hitty precedence. I'm glad I stored mine in the garage. Now I don't know if I can even sell them with a clean conscience. I still might cut off the hoops and see if they would work for nerfs, since no one has met our needs in manufacturing anything decent.
Dumb question. Just curious, back in the day the blown vette guys would actually use the windshield washer reservoir and pump to spray meth in the intake. Is that still an option?
“The engine builder STRONGLY encouraged replacing the factory lifters. He said the rollers tend to chip on them, and that's one of the reasons they have the lifter noise. He said I think "Johnson" lifters. I tried to call him to verify but cannot seem to reach him right now.”
I would listen to...
I'm not sure exactly where you can buy them anymore, but you can buy upgraded trunion bearings (still needle bearings, but caged) and press them in yourself with a small harbor freight press and an appropriate sized socket. That what I did with the Camaro. I agree with others that you should...
We agree on this ^^
If the steps I bought didn't have the hoop steps, it would serve the rocker guard/nerf purpose well as they are pretty snug to the body....
hmmmmm, maybe I can modify them?
There has been class action lawsuits, I believe hundreds of thousands of vehicles have had this issue. It fit all of the commonly known symtoms. Do some research. "Bob is the oil guy" has decent info as well as other sites like LS1 Tech...
Research "piston slap"
The aluminum pistons are warming to fill the bore. I think you are hearing the skirts slapping against the bottom of the bore. Very common on your vintage 5.3. Gm says it's not an issue, within Stevie Wonder tolerences. LOL. My 02 Avalanche did this.
I saw the silver edged ones on Amazon. I’m sure my motherboard is OK. I held off on getting those because they looked different.
It sounds like those might work for me...
Just the plastic case. Internals are fine. Anyone found a replacent that works? Too many shady looking options to digest. Please shoot me a link if you can.
Thanks!
Guys,
Don't forget to do spring isolators/insulators front and rear on higher mileage vehicles as well as an alignment. There's a lot of confusing/conflicting related part# info out there. Best bet is to walk into a dealer with your vin # and get the part numbers if you have any doubt.
I have read somewhere that the issues with the snap rings on the 5100's are when people reuse them after an adjustment. Using new rings each time supposedly poses no issues. I'm quoting from a sketchy memory, so take it for what it's worth.
In my case, on the top posisition it was well over 2"...
Am I wrong in suggesting 5100's would be a better choice for the front? Uncompromised travel for the front without spacers being required. BTW, the comfort of the ride is great!
