Help finding an answer with A/C issue

You need to be a HELLUVA lot more descriptive with anything. Do you hear the noise in the cabin? If so, does it get more noticable when you are at a stop with the engine running, and the blower motor off? Is it more noticable outside the cabin? It it more noticable under the hood? Are there...

    '98 A/C Compressor on 24/7 - Thoughts

Well as a follow-up, I've fixed the problem. I'm not sure what it was in the PCM, but I flashed the PCM with a few different programs, and now everything is working properly. I haven't yet seen the clutch disengage while I had it sitting in the driveway, but the HVAC control engage/disengage...

    '98 A/C Compressor on 24/7 - Thoughts

Yes, I should have noted that before, I have swapped relays out, and no change. For some reason the relay is getting a GND signal to be energized and provide voltage to the compressor. Any more ideas? The only other note is that the truck is got a current draw on the cable to the fender...

    '98 A/C Compressor on 24/7 - Thoughts

Guys, I just finished doing an A/C system service by replacing the condenser, orifice valve, accumulator, low pressure switch, compressor and O-rings & PAG46 oil. I flushed the system, and then used a vacuum pump for an hour. The system then held -30 pounds for an hour. I started off with one...

Ac clutch stuck on (15 tahoe)

You'd have to put in a switch to the voltage conductor that goes to the compressor to turn itoff. GM has done this for DECADES. 1. Cold dry air, or HOT ambient air are the best at removing condensation from the windshield. 2. Also, the GM guys thought correctly that folks who live in colder...

    timing issue

I didn't adjust the timing by using a timing light, as there's no mark on the timing chain cover. For clarity, I had the timing adjusted/set by my buddy's shop, since I couldn't get the cam retard set thru the Torque app on my cell phone. I wasn't aware 'till reading this thread that as...

    timing issue

Hey, I was wondering if there has to be anything done when setting the camshaft to 4' advanced on the timning chain set? I just finished rebuildng my engine, and plan on adjusting the valves this weekend on the engine while she's running, like I have done with Gen-1 engines in the past. The...

TYF Meet - Austin, TX (Sat, May 7th)

unfortunately I moved 1,600 miles away from Austin in the fall of 2009. Sounds like it would be a lot of fun, especially to see all the mode people have made on theirs to give me ideas! Where are you guys going to have the meet?

    Rear Shaft Vibration W/New Joints

No real updates yet, but I happened to do a search for the P/N of the drain/fill plug, and found this site online. I -WISH- my plugs were hex heads like this, but mine are socket heads. I haven't called my friend to see how he's making out with it yet, as I have my 9C1 to drive since...

    Rear Shaft Vibration W/New Joints

Boy oh boy, are you RIGHT!! I remember most every transmission I have worked on have had 3/8" square drive plugs! The cylinder head plug on the RH side (Typically where a water temperature sender goes) wa slightly less than 3/8", so I ground down the ball and socket area, 'till I got to the...

    Rear Shaft Vibration W/New Joints

O-H-...N-O!! Things could never be that easy for me, even thought this truck has been a a Texas truck all it's life, the DAMN drain plug in the transfer had it's 1/4" Square drive rounded off. I tried smacking it counter clockwise with a cold chisel to no avail. I drcided to drive the...

    Rear Shaft Vibration W/New Joints

I got the shaft balanced today at lunch time, and it took two quarter sized weights; 1 at the front & 1 at the rear. I'll post to the forum tomorrow after I reinstall the shaft, after installing a new seal and doing a transfer case fluid R&R.

    Rear Shaft Vibration W/New Joints

The yoke in the rear was in great condition, no wear at all. There was no play that I could feel in the pinion bearing, all felt very tight last night when I pulled the shaft for inspection. I didn't see any spots where a weight may have flown off, but I did find a shop that is ~30 minutes...

    Rear Shaft Vibration W/New Joints

I'll give it a shot when I get home tonight. There's absolutely no noise whatsoever, just vibration. I'll have to take a look at the shaft to DBL check to make sure a weight didn't come loose and fly off. Unfortunately the closest driveshaft place to get it balanced is a little over an...

    Rear Shaft Vibration W/New Joints

10-4, I'll check that when I get home tonight. I've had a bad pinion bearing in my '96 9C1, and it made noise and no vibration.

    Rear Shaft Vibration W/New Joints

Just got an updated exploded assembly dwg from my guy. Looks doable. I'm gonna speak to a local garage today about balancing the shaft. I'm somewhat new to State College, and not familiar with all the shops available here.

    Rear Shaft Vibration W/New Joints

I've got a 1998 Tahoe 4WD W/Electronic shifting transfer case. The truck had a vibration Tuesday going into work noticeable from 40 and very noticeable at 55, so I turned around and came home and pulled the rear driveshaft. I found that the rear U-joint had a grinding feel to it in the...

Coolant Leak...I searched, but more questions

I just bought a 1998 Tahoe, and I'm getting familiar with it, so I'm not exactly as familiar with the engine as I am with the 1996 LT-1 I have, but... The LT-1 has knock sensors on both sides of the block, and I pulled them when I flushed the cooling system to totally drain the engine block.

    ATE Super Blue Brake Fluid

I've been using ATE Blue & Gold in my 1996 Caprice sine 12/03 without any problems whatsoever (Approximately 110K miles). It's great stuff. I alternate between the gold & blue every two years, as brake fluid is hygroscopic. The difference in colors makes it easy to tell when new fluid is...

    Remote Start Question

I just had a remote system installed in my '98 Tahoe. I had the installer remove the OEM security kit, and just stuck with the keyless entry & remote start.
