Occasionally upon starting my 2009 Yukon Xl, 1500 4x4 5.3 I get a check engine light. Code P0690 “Engine Controls Ignition Relay Feedback Circuit High Voltage”
Everything seems to be operating normally and sometimes the check engine light goes off on its own without me clearing it after a...
I have a 2009 Yukon XL with 270k miles. I decided around 90k miles to keep our vehicle as long as possible and keep up on routine maintenance, fix problems immediately as they came up, and save for big repairs (engine, transmission, etc)
I’m glad we did this - the prices of newer vehicles...
Hey everyone.
2009 Yukon Xl, 5.3 4WD.
Today I pushed my cruise control “set button” only to discover it stopped working.
I’d really appreciate your advice for fixing it! We do a lot of long road trips, and cruise control is a game changer for us.
What do you think is going on?
Hey everyone, sorry it’s taken me so long to respond. I had some family issues that took me out of commission since @Geotrash last post.
Thank you for outlining exactly what to look for to confirm everything is plumbed correctly. I did inspect it, and everything is done correctly.
When I got...
This is the key question! Thank you for teasing it out. This is what I asked of my mechanic: that the Derale be “plumbed in series after the fluid-to-fluid cooler in the radiator” after having read about that on this forum.
….that said, I never visually confirmed this was done correctly after...
I mounted the Derale 13960 passenger side of the radiator, as far left as I could get it. Here’s a picture.
Maybe that’s the culprit. Maybe I should have mounted it on lower bumper?!
My model didn’t come with a cooler, so I mounted one to the passenger side of the radiator.
Do you suspect the heat coming off the cooler/slightly blocking the radiator impacted the performance of the radiator and led to higher trans temps?
My reman transmission with less than 20k miles with an updated torque converter typically runs below 185 on warm days and 230 when going uphill on mountain pass at 45-55mph in tow mode. I have an external Derele transmission cooler.
Recently while towing in tow-mode on a very steep grade for 25...
One of the reasons I love this forum is because there are so many knowledgeable people with lots of experience maintaining these reliable vehicles. Mine has 270k and we still use it every day as our daily-driver and our road-trip vehicle. When I’ve gotten weary with maintenance, folks on this...
When I did mine, I went to “YouTube University”. There were a few channels I found with step-by-step instructions. I think one was chemicalguys and maybe the other was chrisfix…I really can’t remember though, so just google it. Good luck! You got this.
So back to the preventative maintenance question for those just tuning in, what are the things I should be having on my radar given the mileage of my vehicle (260k +)?
