    So long story short, my computer is failing. I picked up a new one but my local mechanic, the dealership and my repair manual is telling me that I need to get the new computer reflashed or reset before it will work in the truck.     charging problem with the hoe.

    Yeah, sounds like your alt is dying. You should have checked the voltage at the alt during idle to see where it was at. Sounds like its charging to a point but as soon as its under a load it starts failing. Definitely have it checked.
