I just got my 00 Tahoe (New Body Style) Back from my Mechanic tonite. I had to pick it up late, after he closed. I had already paid for the repairs, He did all four brakes for me and rotated the tires. And didn't notice till I got home. He broke a Front wheel Stud. And NEVER called me to tell me. I know things happens. But he should have called me?

But anyway. My question is, can just the stud be replaced? Or does the entire hub Assembly have to be replaced?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

i had one that i found out was cracked and tapered down when having new rims/tires put on yesterday. they charged $15 for the stud and 30 mins labor to fix it. im sure it took them all of 10 mins to do.

He's probably going to say it didn't happen on his clock. Good luck, hopefully he takes care of it without a hassle. I would start looking for the stud at a dealership or whereever and take it to him since chances are he won't have one on hand. He can then reimburse you for purchasing the stud. Just to save you some down time

The only way this could have happened is with an impact wrench. Don't stress about it, he will replace it... One of his guys must have done it and figured you would not notice it for weeks. You will be find driving on it for a short time, since it is one of six.

Although, I would double check all the rest with a torque wrench, he probably over tightened them on all your wheels.
