I recently purchased an 01 Yukon XL. The blower motor recently wouldn't turn off, even with the key off.

I pulled the fuse for the blower motor.

After researching, it led me to the blower motor resitor/control module. When I removed it, water poured out of it.

I then removed the blower motor housing cover. It was soaked with water. I removed the blower motor.

From what I can tell water is dripping off a black plastic lip at the top of the dash.

It's not the HVAC drain, it's not the heater core.

I removed wiper arms and cowl panel. There is zero debri in the cowl area. All body seams look to be good.

After pouring water on numerous locations, I have narrowed it down to the passenger side, below the windshield(meaning windshield seal is good).

I can't see any way the fresh air vent that protrudes through the cowl area can get water to leak there. Also, there are no wet spots in the area(even with pouring water).

I need to get this leak fixed soon. I do want to keep replacing blower resistor modules and it's cold now...lol.

I have read hundreds of post and have yet to see a solution. I wil add pics when I can. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I will have more time to troubleshoot this weekend. I will update the thread with my results.

Why is this in audio and electronics, now?

I have heard one time of something like this that turned out that when a rig went thru a car wash and the pressure was so high that the water got thru below where the wipers park at the cowling area. This may not be it but it was a strange one. The guy actually saw soap suds come out.

I am having the exact same issue. I am changing the blower now. I will inspect for leaks later today and let you know if I find anything.

I was able to finally narrow this down and find it. It did turn out to be the windshield at the passenger side. It had been replaced before and the seal appearently failed. I had the windshield replaced last Friday and it rained here Sunday. So far, so good. I will updating pictures soon, to show where the water came in at and where it was going.

Do you have "auto" air?

So here is what I found.

Water leaks from here:

Pools here:

And eventually:

So I have a new windshield and blower motor module. If anyone needs the part number for the control module, let me know. I hope this helps someone.
