I would imagine that just about everybody and their mother have asked about this here question - but we'll give it a go anyways yo!

So I have purchased this here 2002 Denali - and re-worked the center console by removing it - cleaning it - painting it - and I just have removed it once again to paint it a different color than I did the first time.

I am wondering on whether or not? There are any good bolt on style - plug n' play type of audio units. Not only that, but speakers to go around the entire vehicle.

I see these here are just a few that do fit.

Athough some speaker packages include tweeters - they also include crossovers? Where do you hide a crossover switch inside the door panel?

Are these tweeters plug & play?

Where are the Amp & Subwoofer located in this 02' Denali?

I took the metal grill covers that do cover the factory speakers. And I wish I could put some aftermarkets in the factory speakers place. Yet, keeping the aftermarket metal covers that protect them? While keeping them flush with the door panels. That is just not possible as it is now.

A whole lot of questions? Not a lot of time for trial and error.

Where is the Amp located in this thing?

By replacing it would you have to go out and get yourself a wiring kit? To power any after market amp? From the car battery source?

maybe put an equilizer in the 6 disc changer 1/2 din slot?

does 1/2 din mean that anything 1/2 din on the market would fit perfect?

I see I am not the only one confused as F#%K about car audio! Ha ha. I will take a stab at some of the simpler questions as I am no expert. Hopefully others will weigh on as there some "Wicked Smaat" people on the forum with a lot of good advice.

Plug and Play Speakers - Most are as long as you get the right size for the doors etc... I am upgrading my door speakers with Good Coax speakers and leaving the factory tweeters in place.

Plug and Play Headunit - Also easily done, but you have to make sure you get the right wiring harness and several adapters to make sure all the other factory bells and chimes keep working. You can add amps to stock HU with Line out converters.

On Replacing the Amp with Aftermarket - yes, you will need a wiring kit. As a wise member told me, this is part of the infrastructure of your system so do it right.

Have you seen these? I like them for adding some more meat to the system.

Hope this gets you and the thread started.

Im not sure if im just not reading it right, but there is no reason why you cant put some aftermarket speakers behind the factory speaker grille. Jk has two sets of 6.5's behind the stock grille. Actually, there arent to many people here ( if any) that have custom speaker pods. The front and rears are 6.5". The speakers in the d-pillar (way back) are
4" i think. The fronts are acutally componets, so they house a seperate tweeter mounted in the a-pillar.

Dont think there are any "plug and play" systems. The only thing you can do is replace the door speakers with new aftermarket, but the impedence (resistence) for the factory speakers are 2 ohm and most aftermarket are 4 ohm. Not sure were the factory amp is on yours, but mine is under teh center console and the sub is either in the center console in the driver side cargo area panel.

I see...

Those door panels that do have them metal mesh grille type of speaker cover thing-a-ma-jiggas.. those I did take off.. and when I took them off.. the bent up a little.

The actual speaker covers had some funny dis-coloration on them so I am actually thinking about painting those there a grayish-black color. The only problem with that is the tiny mesh openings in it because if I happen to paint it too heavy? It will cake between the openings and close off the sound inside the door panel.

I am actually having terrible thoughts of removing every little piece of interior trim (as the denali has a tanish interior) and painting it a grayish-black color. I think that it would take up a ton of time - and even the parts that see the sun (like the dash & top od the door panels) might just eventually crack and peel because of the sun exposure. :sleepy10:

The first and last question I did ask was about the Audio.. and I guess I will have to do a little research for the Audio..

Could anybody answer me on the question about a half din equilizer? Fitting inside of where the 6 disc changer is now? One thing I wonder is possible an aftermarket 6 disc changer - to fit in that stock half din opening? Something tied to a top DVD/CD Unit?

With the entire ohm difference of 2 ohm & 4 ohm? does that have something to do with the amp output? Or the speaker cables? Or does it have to do with the Head Unit Output?

The speakers are two ohm load. So this meens the stock amp pushes the speakers at 2ohm. If you add 4 ohm speakers, the output of the amp will be reduced since there is more resistance. More resistance= less power
