I would check the 18's out. I have 285/70/17 on my 03 z71 And still had room. I'm running 275/55/20 on my 07 z71 and they rub.

That's the way I was leaning. Wasn't really looking to get new wheels, but sometimes $hit just falls in your lap.

Here's my latest guys. I go to the tire shop to price out a set of 285/75s. Guy gives me a price & then tells me for $50 more, he can sell me a set of used OEM 18" wheels with a set of 265/70/18s on them (about 50% tread left). Not sure which OEM rims they are, but I would guess they came off about 2010 or so. What do you guys think? Should I go for it & re-up on tires in a year?
I think you should stick with the 285s, the 265 is going to be too skinny and look weird IMO

well that's the thing. If I get this set, I'll be getting bigger wheels, and when it's time to replace the tires, I'll go wider then. I'd spend the same amount it would cost me to get just new tires, but I'll go from 16 to 18" wheels I'd just need tires in about a year

Agreed.
UNLESS..... you plan on going with the NNBS brake upgrade, then you'll have to step up to at least 17" rims. to clear the calipers. If so, grab those 18's now. You can always go bigger/wider with the 18's the next time you need tires.
