Go FOR IT!
i have a black 2002 z71 tahoe with the stock z71 rims. mine started to get oxidized and i wanted to paint my winter (stock) rims black, to match my summer rims. What i do i get clean the rims with some paint thinner. then hand sand them down with a medium grit sandpaper. once sanded wipe off all the dust with a clean rag with paint thinner once more. tape of your tires and lay down a solid 2 coats of a rustolium/ krylon paint. these work best. if your doing ur rims black i would recommend going with a dark grey or black primer to give it a better base. then go over that with ur finish coat.....flat. semigloss. or gloss. i always leave my lugs and center cap silver/ chrome just to give it a more professional look. if you paint the whole thing......it looks like u really did spray paint ur stocks....but if you at some detail with the center cap and lugs it looks alot more professional. Hope this helps. let me know if you have any more questions. btw ive had these rims on the past 3 winters and they haven chipped or anything. cost around $14 and 4 hrs of time
