03 Denali Rear Coil Springs

After talking to Billstein today, I ordered 4 4600 shocks to replace the Autoride shocks on my 03 denali. The Bilstein guy said the 5100s would raise the ride height and I just want to maintain normal ride height. The Bilstein guy also told me to get the 199021 springs. But they are not progressive springs. One suggestion here was to get Moog progressive springs. All I want is a nice handling Yukon. I seldom tow anything, and even when I do it's only for about 5 miles to put our boat in the water. I would appreciate any advice on whose springs to buy along with part numbers. Someone has said something about Z71 springs. But is that a GM part? And how would I know if the Z71 spring would work for the 03 denali? sorry for my rambling. I'm not much of a mechanic and all I wanted was a nice Yukon and so far it's been a nightmare.

I just saw on arnott website they have the 4 corner kit for the denali on sale for 650, if you wanna go that route. I was looking at ridding myself of auto ride until I saw that price. Just thought I would throw that out there

Thanks. I talked to Arnott. The kit includes non-electronic shocks, coil springs, and resistors to keep the idiot light from coming on. But, they no longer offer Bilstein shocks. Seems like a supply problem of some sort. And they were a little unclear about the springs. I talked to Bilstein instead and they also have a kit. Either 4600 or 5100 shocks and their own coil springs. They said they were progressive springs but the Summit people said they weren't. Will talk to MOOG today.

I have talked to Bilstein. Their springs are not variable rate. I've talked to MOOG. While they make variable rate springs, they say they don't make them for a 2003 Yukon. I've talked to Carid and they say that Arnot includes a variable rate spring in their kit but won't sell them separately. Arnot no longer sells Bilstein with their kit. I've talked to Strutmaster and they won't sell their variable rate springs separately and their kit does not include Bilsteins. Eibach makes one but it will lower the vehicle 2" and I would have to have camber bushings pressed into the rear upper control arms and with local labor that's not a possibility. Any suggestions would certainly be appreciated.

I am seriously considering deleting autoride and running bilsteins. Springs are something that I need to look into, IIRC I read somewhere that z71 springs can be used (might have been this thread). Might be JY shopping for those.

Which resistors are used to remove the idiot light?

Is there a comprehensive write up on this?

I'm not sure why the bilstein guy thinks that 5100's will increase your ride height. 5100 Struts are adjustable for .75-2" lift, shocks do not lift a vehicle. They are designed for lifted applications however. Source: I have 5100s set @ 1.5" lift on my Jeep Commander.

Agree with TheAutumnWind. Never have seen shocks raise a vehicle. Seen adjustable air or coil over shocks do that and have seen raised vehicles use a different travel shock to allow for the lift but never seen a shock raise a vehicle all by itself. They are there to absorb spring action, keep the tires in contact with the road and to help control sway and porpoise effects.

I am going through this process now, ordered Bilstein 5100's for the rear and Bilstein Springs, and found 2 resistors all on ebay. $310. Front Bilstein 5100's $150.

Same as I paid for mine from shockwarehouse. I didn't get resistors though since I don't have autoride.
