Ok so ill try to give you as much info as I can and hopefully I can get some help.
So I was having some issues with my 4x4 like it just deciding to be in 4low when I start it up or the red transfer case N light was on or it wouldn't shift in or out of 4x4 quite "on command" but it was never a huge issue and I wasn't super down to jump into a huge 4x4 repair so I let it go.
Now I have started to notice a bit of a whining from the front end as if it is in 4wd but the light clearly showed 2wd. It hooks up like its in 4wd (wet road punch it and the rear end doesn't break loose as usual) and when I just turn the truck on(not running) and push the button I can hear something actuating but you never get that characteristic thud or dropping sound like the gears actually disengaged. But when it says its in 2wd I can turn tight corners like normal but in 4wd it jumps and binds a bit when turned tight(normal in 4wd)
So my conclusion is that the actuator on the front axle is fine and I need to replace the one on the transfer case...
am I correct with this or am I missing something?
If this is the issue how hard is it to change that actuator? Has anyone done it or seen a guide on it?
Thanks in advance.
