Hello all. This is my first post here... I think....
I have a 2003 Yukon SLT.... I bought it used.
I'm having a strange problem. The truck is cutting off and making and then making a low "hummmm" sound for about 8 seconds afterwords. This happens typically when making a low speed, sharp 90 degree turn - usually somewhat suddenly like in a parking lot or turning into a driveway or something. Put the car back in park and turn the key and she starts right on back up again.
This paragraph may or may not be related to the issue as something similar to the above occurred once last year randomly. I recently hit a deer and had a lot of front end work done as well as a transmission rebuild... long story short on that is.... Hit the deer, deer damaged transmission cooler, transmission fluid all leaked out while truck was still running, damage was done by then, so rebuild tranny.
The repair shop is determined that my issue is unrelated to the deer hit and all. They suggest that it might be an "idle controller" going bad.... A $400 part.... Like I mentioned before, something similar did happen last year once or maybe twice, but now it's like an everyday occurrence since we got the truck back from the deer hit repair.
I'm wondering what your thoughts might be.
We recently changed the plugs and oil change. She's got 160,000 miles on her.
I really hope that there is something simple that "I" can do without having to take it back to a shop or.... God forbid.... a stealership.
