My first post ever, so take it easy on me.

03 Yukon XL SLT with bose, no onstar

My stock 1 disk CD player chokes up when trying to load CD's. Its as if there is not enough power to suck the CD in or eject it all of the way. Is there anything I can do or replace to get it to work better? If so, PN or sources would be great.

For those of you that are going to suggest an aftermarket unit, I prefer to have the stock head unit because I like the manual tuning knob. Are there any places that have decent priced replacement stock units? And what needs to be done to match a new unit to my truck? Can I do it with a Tech 2 scanner?

Thanks ahead of time

Sounds like it might just need a cleaning and if you're up for trying yourself, it isn't hard to do. The CD player in my '02 started doing the same thing. It's simple to disassemble, just use care with the tiny screws. - It's been a while since I did this, I can't remember if small torx bits were involved - getting old sucks.

A little electrical cleaner and small swabs worked wonders.

I've ordered radio parts from these guys: http://www.replacementradios.com/

I can't say it was cheap, but it was top notch quality with good service.

Thanks for the advice. I will see what I can do about cleaning it out. If i remove the unit will anything need to be re-programmed to the truck when I put it back in? Or is that only if its a unit from a different vehicle?

once you disconnect power, you will lose radio station presets and whatever other things that particular radio stores in memory, but thats really it. also, if you are working on the cd mechanism, use really light weight oil or lithium grease (small little dabs) on any of the moving mechanical bits.
