Started a project for a buddy of mine, he has a 2004 Silverado, but the wiring should be across the board for GMFSs...
His vehicle was not originally equipped with Home Link, but he does have an overhead console same size shape and design as the ones equipped, just without the button module. So, in a junk yard raid we got a hold of the exact overhead unit with Home link (avalanche donor), less than $10. Now we are trying to wire it up, obviously his truck does not have a feed for all the power, signals and grounds needed for adding home link, however, I was wondering, I saw someone posted a while back where they wired using/splicing the existing leads to make it work while the overhead map light was on... unfortunately it's a super old post with no current responses... Posting pictures below, hoping someone has done this or can shine an idea or light on it, or at the very least provide a schematic for the home link equipped models... that would be HUGE! thanks in advance, wish us luck!
