My wife and I purchased this truck from a lady back in 2014 don't remember the exact mileage but the mileage now is 243,*** runs good, doesn't burn oil, but does use a little coolant need to change the heater core. Pure stock except the wheels for now.

I'm a mechanic by trade. Would love to do 6.0 swap, 4.30 gears and put together a nice low cost lowering kit.

But for now I'm going to begin with one question of part fitment. Will a ls7 intake fit a lm7

LS7 intake is for tall deck. You don't want to use a car intake on a truck anyway because you will loose some torque it needs to get the extra weight moving. You want to use all the 5.3L parts on the 6.0L. A buddy of mine just did a simple swap in his 05 Silverado and he bought a used engine that came with the PCM and put on his intake, exhaust, injectors, wiring harness, etc. and just plugged in the 6.0L PCM and did a manual theft relearn so it would work and he's has no issues so far. He didn't want to bother with an aftermarket tune is why he used the 6.0L PCM but if you have no problems or already have plans to get an aftermarket tune then that may not be anything to worry about. I also don't think I would recommend 4.30 gears if you drive this thing a lot because gas mileage will be awful. 3.73 should be more than enough for a good driver.

I drive city 7 miles one way to work. I want get up more than mpg. I want to start adding parts to the 5.3 for time being until I find a good 6.0 for a good price. What intake would you recommend

An ls7 intake won't fit. Ls7 heads are square port and lm7 are cathedral. A tbss/nnbs intake would add some power but you're really not going to see much until you get a better cam and a tune

That's all a personal preference of what you want out of the engine. Do you want really low end grunt, something that starts picking up in the mid range or something that you can drop in and be good without a tune or anything else.

Comp, Texas speed, Brian tooley racing, and cam motion are the big players that come to mind. If you call them and explain what you want they can spec one for you and your needs.

*side note/shameless plug: cam motion makes drop in cams for trucks that doesn't require buying new lifters, springs, etc and works on the stock tune.

staying fairly stock 4.30 will be peppy off the line, hurting mileage slightly. since some trucks came with 4.10 gearing stock and manage the same or better than lower gears . highway mileage will definitely suffer making 4.30s a point of diminishing returns unless you just want all out acceleration.

Like previously mentioned you want to keep the cathedral port setup and truck intake to keep torque up.
