Hello,

I will start off with apologizing if this is in the wrong section.

Okay, so my fiance has a 2004 Tahoe Z41 with the 5.3 V8 with Bose surround sound system. Well and good, I love that damn tank! Not fun to take on trips because the radio does not work!! Very frustrating!

Now, I have checked the fuses and the connections behind the radio to no avail. I read somewhere a few weeks ago that this was common with the amp or something, I cannot really remember nor can I find the thread. It is not a big issues, but we would both love to have the radio since my SUV is not capable of towing my trailer.

Please any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

With RPO UM8

1. Battery positive voltage circuit to the amplifier open. Test the battery positive voltage circuit to the amplifier for an open.
2.Ground circuit to the amplifier open. Test the ground circuit to the amplifier for an open.
3.Speaker output from the radio shorted. Test each speaker output of the radio for a short to ground or short to voltage.
4.No audio output from the amplifier. Replace the amplifier.

Sorry it is such crappy writing, this is the actual gm manual.

Thank you for your response. What do you mean check for an "open"

If a circuit is open you will not get a voltage(power) or ohm(ground) reading. For example; if you have an open circuit on power it will test at 0 volts or fluctuate instead of 12 volts. For ground it will either be a very high ohm reading or fluctuate. A good ground should have around 1 ohms resistance or less if I remember correctly.

Amplifier should be underneath the center console. Some are located near the jack storage.
