I tow a 30' RV that weighs in a tad under 9,500 lbs, I have enough power and brakes but fall short in the suspension dept. you can't tow a RV without the brake controller, that would be suicide.

Why don't you just drive the recreational vehicle?

According to the sticker 6800. I live in the desert and will be towing up to the mountains so from 1500' to 6500'.

Will have to look into this not familiar.

You can install the larger front calipers/pads/rotors from the NNBS. 17"+ wheels are required. Some have had success with JY pulls, but rockauto has remanufactured parts for a fair price.

I would also consider looking into Edelbrock sway bars.

Hi all. I have a 2004 Z71 with 180K bone stock except 22" wheels, looking to buy a travel trailer around 6000 lbs. and want to set up the Tahoe to tow it. The motor still seems strong no major issues. the transmission was rebuilt about 30K ago. I was thinking intake, exhaust (headers and cat back), 4.10's, tune, and maybe cam.

Looking for recommendations and or if it is even worth it.

Thanks,

chris

If I were you I would start with a bigger trans-cooler, upgrade your brakes (at the least pads, fluid) and get a trailer brake controller first. You will be see pretty big improvements and it will keep your temps at a safe level. If you still want more after that it depends on how much coin you want to spend.....
