04 Tahoe Z71 AMP dead

Radio stopped working and dealer diagnosed amp failure. Dealer estimated nearly $700 in parts and labor to replace the amp - more than $200 of it being labor. I know the amp is under the console. Can anyone provide or reference a diagram to get to the amp so I can replace it? Thanks for any help.

Honestly now is a good time to go aftermarket. You'll save a lot of money just to fire up the stockers again.

I'm assuming you have the stock radio so your gonna need a Line Out Converter.

For simplicity a 5 channel amp of good quality should go a long way for you.

To keep cost down I suggest the Powerbass ASA series for a 5 channel. Good amp at a very reasonable price.

I have to research a little more stuff but I will get back with you if someone doesn't beat me to it.

It is a stock BOSE 6 CD unit.

On replacing the factory bose amp, how do you go about bypassing it. I found this on another forum, is this a good way to do this? http://www.gmtruckclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27781 And where is a good spot to put an amp? Sorry not trying to hijack, just wondered the same thing. OP i believe i you have to take out the console to get to the amp. (not sure though)

i beleive the amp and Bose sub are under the center console

I'll sell you my Bose amp if you want.. Not nearly as expensive as what the stealer ship wants. Let me know I've already got an RF so its not like I'm using the bose or anything

basically? remove the lid, unbolt the storage tub. damn thing is right freaking there IIRC.
You might have to take the back wall off, that is just another few screws. I tore my console down to almost nothing when putting my headrest dvd players in, it is as simple as interior disassembly can get.
