You could take up on the offered replacement.

The wiring is going to be slightly more involved for the aftermarket amp.

He is already having trouble with getting to the amp so we need to know his comfort zone.

that's also why car audio shops have installers, while may be out of comfort zone, sometimes paying for the obvious is the best plan.

Just don't want to scare him out of the idea by telling him this wire and that wire.

If he wants to tackle it through help from here cool. If he has a reputable shop nearby cool.
