Hey everybody!
Well.. not long ago I started a thread about the problem I was having with my 05 tahoe that I bought used from a gm dealer back at the end of August.
http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4420 It had to do with loss of communication between with the accelerator.. I guess is the best way to put it.. well.. the problem apparently had to do with the sensors in the front hub.. and the dealer went ahead and replaced the left side.. under warranty.. well the vehicle is back in again.. same problem.. not occuring quite as often..but.. still does it.. and the dealer has said they will now replace the right side hub.. under warranty as well.. which is great.
Now.. the disappointment.. for the last little while.. i've been hearing this fairly loud noise coming from what I thought was under the hood.. maybe tensioner or idler pulley... but when I revved the motor.. the noise never changed.. so the other day when it finally happened.. i tried change the fan speed and the noise changed.. subsided and then went away.
So.. they are checking that..but apparently found a code that has to do with the HVAC system and some kind of actuator door or something like that? Apparently they're having a tough time isolating it..but.. I can just imagine what they're going to charge for this not being under warranty.
I thought it might be just as easy as me ordering a new blower motor and putting it in.. but as my luck would have it.. it's probably going to be some high tech thing that will cost me an arm and a leg.

so.. other than venting.. has anybody on here had a similar problem with either the blower motor or a code showing something for the hvac system and if so.. what was done to repair the problem.

Sorry for being long winded
thank you in advance
take care

lots of people have had issues witht he blender actuator failing. it's basically a little motor with a flap attached to it that redirects the air.

I don't have the info on the codes.. as they said they'd call me back before the end of the day with a "diagnosis" which I'm paying for also. and I'm ok with that.
If I ask for what codes is it showing.. they should tell me that info???

Well.. the dealer called.. they haven't found "the problem" yet...but.. I question what they say about the actuator door.. as the hvac system runs fine.. it's just the blower motor that makes that noise.. so.. I'll be curious to see what they find out tomorrow.
I'll keep everybody updated and if anybody has any other info.... you know I appreciate it.

thanks everybody

diagnosis...

... so the dealership calls this morning and tells me the A/C compressor needs to be replaced. I question as to whether that's the noise I was hearing and indicated again when I change the fan speed manually the noise changed and went away when I shut the blower off... so the service advisor just says.. wel.. that's what they diagnosed.. and it will be X amount of dollars.

So.. of course you can understand the disappointment of getting the speech when buying the truck of their 150+ point inspection... I guess they didn't inspect the a/c compressor too closely.. but apparently when a mechanic friend of mine lifted the hood the first thing he pointed to was the condition of the front of the clutch on the a/c compressor.

So at this point.. I think i'm going to go to the dealership on Monday morning.. talk to the manager.. see if or what they'll do for me.. I'm not sure they will do anything.. if not.. I think I'm going to pick up the vehicle.. pay for their "diagnosis" and take it somewhere else.

and yes.. now I'm venting.. but.. I've always bought used vehicles privately and NEVER had any kind of major issues as I have had after buying this vehicle from the dealer.

Any comments?

Thanks for listening

dealer's 150 point inspection? hmmm...

Well.. I picked up my tahoe from the dealer yesterday.. they did replace the right front hub and now the problem I had with the stability control system/drive by wire accelerator problem, is now cured and that is all fine, but, as far as the estimate for the air conditioning compressor goes, well. it's not even that the price is a little high.. it's a dealership.. I expected that..but.. it's the fact that after having bought the vehicle from a dealer and hearing how they have taken care of it since day one, and the great shape it's in.. and the 150 point check it went through.. I questioned them to the fact that if the vehicle was in such great shape... how come it needed over 2,000 dollars worth of work in less than the four months that I owned it?
Maybe they only did 149 point inspection???
I did contact gm customer service and they called back and I had a great conversation with their representative.. she of course understands my plight, but was honest enough to say that at this point it's up to the dealership as to whether they want to help me out or not. I understand what she is saying and told her I'm sure they feel they've done more than their share... with that she suggested that I let her contact them to let them know I am an unsatisfied customer as we feel the vehicle should've been checked closer before going up for sale so this problem never woul'dve come up and the end result would've been a satisfied customer who will shop at that dealership again.
GM customer service called me back. They spoke to the service manager this morning... and he told her.. he offered me 10% off on the repair. Would've been nice then if they originally offered me 10 % off the purchase price too and then we'd be about even!!!!
So.. for now.. I am going to do the repair.. I have a local A/C shop has ordered the compressor and going to repair it Wednesday morning , and even taking into account the dealership's exceptional offer of a 10% discount..my local guy is still several hundred dollars cheaper than the dealership wanted. Although I have to do the repair , I will not give the dealer the satisfaction of taking any more of my money.
That was the first and last used vehicle I will ever buy from a dealership!

So.. that is my long winded update
thanks all for listening

Brotha, take it to an AC shop and get a second opinion. These days dealerships aren't likely to service much on their own dime regardless of any inspection, sad but true.

Thank you sir!

Hey Boss

Yep.. took your advice.. took the Tahoe to a local a/c shop.. guys has been in business here for ages!!!

Looked it over.. confirmed the compressor was on the way out.. the a/c compressor clutch is F___ked... and could see the marks on the trans lines where the tensioner got pulled down and was hitting the lines which was making the noise I was hearing.

In short.. did the job for almost 400 bucks cheaper than the dealership.
I used to work at a car dealership and an ex friend is a part owner... I know a fair bit about how they operate.. I hate doing business with dealerships!!!

I was very happy supporting the local repair shop... who of course wasn't too busy seeing it's an a/c business and it's December in the Toronto area and it was minus 6 celcius today.. not a lot of a/c work going on for him this time of year!

Geez I'm long winded!

take care everybody
