Hello, I am having a terrible time getting my 2007 Yukon Denali to relearn the idle after changing the throttle body.

A little over a week ago my wife got the engine power reduced message and was put in to limp mode but was luckily on a couple miles from the house. She also stated that the vehicle has felt kinda funny and lunged a little when coming to a stop earlier that day. By the time she got it home and it sat for 2-3 minutes I fired it up and it ran fine but I did pull the P2135 code which my research overwhelmingly led me to a new throttle body. After installing the new TB I performed the 3 minute idle, 1 minute rest, 3 minute idle relearn and it seemed to find its idle until I shifted into gear and then it started idling erratically. I tried the relearn process again which did not help. A couple days later I took it for a 60 mile interstate drive constantly accelerating/decelerating while staying above 44 mph. Still no better. This weekend, I unhooked the negative battery cable and placed it on the positive for several minutes then tried the idle relearn procedure again with still no improvement. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Edit: I also sprayed starting fluid around all of the intake joints from the filter to the back of the TB with no spike in RPMs.

put in a new air filter and clean the maf sensor and try again, make sure everything is tight (no air leaks), sometimes they just wont set or it takes longer you may have to have the dealer do it or use a tech2 if you have one available.

Thanks for the suggestions! I am probably about due for a new air filter anyways and I didn't think about cleaning the MAF. I was really hoping to avoid the dealer but I guess that may be the next step as I do not have access to a tech 2.

Pep Boys will do a forced idle relearn on their computer for 80 bucks. This is when knowing a ma-pa shop owner comes in handy, my guy usually does it for free.

Unfortunately no Pep Boys around here but I will probably call a few small shops before the dealer. Would rather support a ma-pa shop if I can find one with the ability to do it.

Agreed with MAF cleaning and new filter.

For the idle, I know it's tough, but just keep driving it. It WILL relearn as long as there's nothing else wrong.
