I recently purchased a 2007 Tahoe LTZ, and I am considering polishing the factory 2007 LTZ wheels. However I cannot tell if they are aluminum or Chrome.

In all honesty I am 80% sure they are polished & clear coated aluminum, but then again I have been tricked before by dirty chrome.

It will help me determine how I want to clean them up. IE I do not want to put chrome polish on aluminum...

Thanks

John

In case you don't already know, there are both. I'm pretty sure you would know if they are chrome though.

Yea you would know if they are the chrome version... They are pretty rare actually, only made a few years aka not in 2007.

Yep chrome ones didn't come out until 2010-2011ish. You most likely have the polished ones.

1) I did not know they actually had factory versions of these in Chrome.
2) They really appear to be Aluminum polished.
3) If the chrome ones did not arrive until later, I am sure these have not been replaced.

4) Anyone had any luck getting rid of the corrosion caused by the steel in the wheel weights?

John

Those are polished. Best thing to do with those is get them PC or hit them with plastidip. I believe they are clearcoated and that is the clear peeling off-not much you can do to save them....but I could be wrong.

Yea those are polished. They do make an aluminum version too but those are pretty rare. I've had two LTZ's and both came with those polished 20's.

My tahoe came with a set of those and I bought a chrome set for the summer and just use the polished ones for the winter.
