Is this something that can easily be done? I want to install a Nav in my 01 Yuk, and I've got a shot to pick up an 07 system for a pretty cheap price. I figured it might be a good place to save a few bucks to put into another mod.

03-06 use a databus type of communication.
07+ use lan data for communcation.

Your 02 and earlier, unforunately, use NEITHER of those. Your only choices are aftermarket. You also do not have a DD (double din) opening, so you would have to modify the opening to accept a full size DD aftermarket nav unit.

I agree with Omar, except it doesn't matter what size opening you have in your dash for a radio. There are some navigation systems out now where the screen will slide out and them up, this allowing singlet din and 1 ¹/² size din to work also.

The OP was looking at an 07 DD hoping that it would be a direct swap. If I simply advised him that aftermarket was his only choice, then he would be in for a big surprise when he purchased an aftermarket DD and found out it wasn't a direct fit/swap.

So unless he is armed with all the knowledge need for this install, yes, size does matter.

Also, with some of the single and 1.5 units that slide forward and out, some of them will hit the gear shifter unless it is in low gear. Something else he needs to be aware of in case he goes that route.

Domin8, thanks for the reply. I'm aware of the nav that has the screen that slides out. However I don't like the look and didn't want to go that route. And the point that OmarR made about the shifter hitting the unit makes sense as well. That said, I would be happy to modify the opening if needed to put in a DD (if it's possible). I've even considered swapping out the dash if to update the look. Any suggestions on what Nav unit might be best? I've done a bit of homework, but they are all over the place as far as prices and functions, and I'd rather hear it from members instead of getting "sold" by good marketing. If the dash is a better route, how easy would that install be?

I appreciate all the suggestions.

if you just want the unit to look stock ADVENT makes a few awesome oem replacement-look aftermarket DD nav units. they blow the factory units away in terms of function and connectivity.

Advents won't work either. Only choice is aftermarket. Update the dash.

Thanks for the link, chauncey0337!! So is the DD bezel all that is needed to put a DD Nav system in an 01 Yuk? There won't be any problems behind the bezel if it's replaced, like space? I see the units that sandperformace is selling come with the radio cage. Will that be enough to allow me to install the DD Nav or is there more tweaking behind the dash?

Really helpful guys, thanks!

In my 02 I went with an alpine dd and modified the bezel to fit the cage and dd. I've done it a few times and ppl are happy with how it looks. Flip out head units imo don't look good. Flush with the dash dd looks good. I'll try and take a pic of my dash and post it up for u to see.
