Number one. Your license plate light not working is a totally separate issue from your rear lift gate and your rear windshield wiper.

Your license plate light will work if you switch out the bulbs. Very easy. all you need is a screw driver and two light bulbs.

Second, your lift gate not working is due to your windshield wiper not working. You'll most likely have to change out the motor that is attached behind the back cover of your trunk which is the big plastic panel. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO Remove the plastic panel without knowing what to take out first or you'll end up cracking the the cover.

The lift gate and the wiper is all connected to the same motor so when the motor mal functions so does the lift gate. if you lived near me i would help you fix this problem because i had to deal with this myself but i dont think you live in atlanta.

I have a 2012 escalade that the rear wipers do not function but the lift gate works just fine. I am fairly mechanically inclined. What do you suggest I check?

I am having the same issue. Is there a bypass to ensure/ test that is the issue or do you suggest another? Right now my rear access says that it's open when it's not, and my door locks switch on and off intermittently.
