I just got some smoked taillights on my Tahoe and I would like to have some brighter bulbs so I don't have issues with the cops. It calls out in the manual that they take 3047 bulbs but I found out that the 3157 bulbs have the same base as the 3047 bulbs but are 7 watts brighter. Is this going to give me any electrical issues having the brighter bulb or do you think I would be ok? Also to add I do not want to use LED's.

3157 bulbs will not give you any issues, and like you said, LED bulbs are out of the question!

You will not have any issues going with those bulbs. I just switched out my bulbs with Silverstar 3157's and now the tails and brake lights are just as bright as stock, and my tails are pretty dark.

Are you referring to the reverse light in the tail? What's your beef with LED's? Just curious :Handshake:

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering what you were running for bulbs because mine are close to yours. I picked up a regular set of 3157's at the local hardware store and put on in and it blew right away. I was scared I screwed up something so I install the second bulb and it worked fine and they are for sure alot brighter. I will have to find some silverstars this weekend to replace mine. Thanks

I mean the brake and signal bulbs. My reverse light is not smoked so I have no issues with that.

Also for the LED's I just don't want to deal with any issues that they will give me. Never had luck them with my past trucks.

OK just install the 3157 silverstar bulbs along with the rear silverstar bulbs. Made a difference and now I feel safer because they are just as bright as the stock taillights.

Nice and bright....right?? I was surprised that just changing the bulb would make that much of a difference.

yes they are nice and bright. just like stock taillights.

The only problem I have now is the wife told me last night she doesn't like them. But what makes them look kind of weird is I have a painted on pinstripe that was added just before I bought the tahoe. I need to figure out how to remove it. I never really liked it but the deal I got on the tahoe made me like them. I will have to stop by the local bodyshop and see what they can do.
