Hi folks,

Has the usual issue of a 3rd row seating not folding and releasing. Managed to get it out of the car, and the culprit is the cable that runs from right to left is very stretched on the left side (middle of car), so when you move the release lever, the cable doesnt pull taught....

Anyone familiar with this issue and a potential fix? Can you buy replacement cables for example?

Means my 7 seat XL is currently a 5 seater as the chair is outta the car. :(

You can find the cable at GMPartsGiant.com, but they are not cheap.

If you post the last 8 digits of your VIN, @915_Tahoe may be able to get you a specific part number and narrow your search down.

I had a similar problem on my old '02 Suburban. I ended up cutting the 'S' end off the cable, and then using a cable stop placed so it would keep the necessary tension on it. Not sure if the NNBS seats have enough clearance where that cable end sits for a stop to be a viable solution or not though. Thankfully I haven't yet had that problem with either of mine.

Hi again folks.

OK to move the story on a bit.... I thought I had managed to make a fix to the problem, reinstalled the seat and...ummm... it went in fine, but will now not release, fold, move etc whatsoever!!

Almost unbelievably an American Car breaker here in Europe (only 2hrs drive from me) had a 3rd row for sale in the correct colour from a crashed Denali.... so ive been and bought them.

I now have a new working 3rd row, but I need to get the current one out!

Anybody know how to remove a chair that is effectively locked in to the car? Do I need to get my angle grinder out :)

Nice job scoring the seats! If you can reach the cable with a pair of long-nose vise grips, that might do the trick. Also, give the seat a good shove down into the latches and see if that's enough to get the mechanism to release.

Problem solved folks. Thanks. With the help of the videos and some further deconstruction I managed to get the damaged chair out.

Replacements are in and work perfectly!

Does anyone know if these cables are still available? I have a broken one in an 08 suburban.
