Thinking about installing a CD or DVD changer in my 2009 Yukon XL. I love the Bose sound package, but only being able to load one disc at a time and having to leave the iPod wire hanging from the front of the head unit (w/ nav) isn't working. Throwing around a few options, wondered what everyone on hear thought.
Alpine CHA-S634 CD changer or DHA-S690 DVD changer. $245 and $379 respectively on onlinecarstereo.com. Could get the CD changer like new on eBay for half that. Crutchfield claims that these units won't work with the Bose nav unit because they use the Alpine M-bus connection, but I think either one should still work by using the alternate RCA outputs to plug the changer into the iSimple, then plugging the iSimple into the head unit using the included wiring harnesses. Anybody know anything more about this?
OR
Pioneer CDX-FM687/1287. No adapter required for IP-Bus connections. $180 for 6-disc and $220 for 12-disc.
PAC Audio iSimple Solutions ISGM-571 iPod/iPhone and Aux Input (changer) interface. $120 at Amazon
Planning on mounting the interface under the center console cupholder and running the iPod hookup into the storage part of the console. I thought about mounting the changer in the glovebox, but I don't think there's enough room. Gave it some thought, and what do you guys think about mounting it on the lower portion (left side) of the console's lower retainer, so it's easier to access for the driver or passenger?
Thanks for the input everyone!
